PECOTA foresaw a repeat of 2010’s ratios for the pride of Flushing, but David Wright plodded through an injury-marred campaign in 2011, setting career lows in virtually every offensive category. His struggles were compounded by the difficulty of playing his home games in an unfavorable environment for right-handed power, an issue for which the Mets have taken corrective measures this off-season, but the optimism surrounding DW is at an all-time low. Age is on his side, as Wright is still on the left side of 30, but fans of the orange-and-blue are waiting for the face of the franchise to re-emerge, and are still searching for the missing peak of a once Hall-worthy career path.
