LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and hung on to beat the Reading Fightin Phils, 8-7, on Friday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.  Brian Burgamy, Dilson Herrera  and Brandon Nimmo all hit a home runs in the game. Chase Huchingson tossed an inning of relief for his third win of the season. Randy Fontanez and Cody Satterwhite combined to toss a scoreless inning of relief to close out the game. Satterwhite picked up his 14^th save of the season. The B-Mets tied their high-water mark at 24 games above .500. They are one game back of Portland for first in the Eastern Division and their magic number to clinch a postseason spot has dropped to six.

BINGHAMTON STARTER, GAME 1: RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka makes a rehab start for Binghamton in game one. The  Tokyo, Japan native was put on the disabled list by New York on July 26 with right-elbow discomfort. In 28 appearances with the Mets this season, Matsuzaka has made nine starts. He came out of the bullpen in his last appearance. The righty allowed three runs in two innings as New York fell to Milwaukee, 9-1, on July 24.  The 33-year-old signed a minor league contract with the Mets on August 22, 2013.

READING STARTER, GAME 1: LHP Jesse Biddle makes his 16^th start of the season and his first since June 23.  The southpaw had been on the temporary inactive list since June 26. Biddle’s last start came at Binghamton. He lasted just three innings and gave up ten runs on eight  hits. The ten runs were a season high. The Fightin Phils won the game 12-8. Biddle hasn’t won a game  in his last eight starts. He has six losses in the that time. In 78.2 innings this season he has allowed 11 home runs. The 22-year-old was taken by Philadelphia in the first round of the 2010 draft.

BINGHAMTON STARTER, GAME 2: RHP Tyler Pill makes his 20^th appearance of the season and his 19^thstart. The righty is coming off a win in his most recent outing. He tossed seven shutout innings and struck out eight batters in a  9-6 Binghamton win over Richmond  on August 5. It was his third shutout of the season. Pill  has 22 strikeouts in the last three games. He has gone at least five inning in all but three outings this season. The Covina, California native was taken in the fourth round of the 2011 draft.

READING STARTER, GAME 2: LHP Adam Loewen  makes his 14^th start of the season and his first against Binghamton. The southpaw tossed seven shutout inning in his last outing, but didn’t factor into the decision in his last outing. Reading won the game against Altoona on Saturday, August 9. He’s allowed one run combined in his last three starts. The former major leaguer was signed by Philadelphia on April 16, 2014.

BOYD BELTS BALL: Binghamton INF Jayce Boyd collected another hit on Friday. He now has a base knock in 11 of his last 12 games. The first baseman has 44 hits in 34 games between July and August. The righty has raised his average 41 points since July 1.

OH, OH IT’’S MAGIC: Binghamton saw their magic number to clinch a playoff spot drop to six games, on Friday. The have a 13.5 game lead for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Division. They are one game back of Portland for first place. It would be the team’s second straight postseason appearance.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Binghamton plays their 11^th doubleheader on Saturday. The team is 3-2-5 in twin bills this season. It’s their second doubleheader this week alone. The team was swept by Erie on Wednesday at NYSEG Stadium. They have one more scheduled doubled header in 2014 on August 26 against New Britain.
