MLB Trade Rumors has this on the Mets and
Thor: Mets general
manager Brodie Van Wagenen said at the
beginning of October that the club’s not going to trade right-hander Noah
Syndergaard this offseason. A month and a half later, Van Wagenen
hasn’t changed his mind. Teams have called about Syndergaard, but Van Wagenen
has rebuffed them, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
NY
Daily News had Brodie’s take on the sign stealing. "I don’t have
nearly enough information and I would defer to MLB on any of those questions,”
Van Wagenen said Thursday morning before he departed from the GM Meetings.
Joel
Sherman says Carlos Beltran makes Astros’ sign-stealing accusations a big Mets
problem. “Van Wagenen took a lot of time at Beltran’s introductory press
conference going through five tenets of why he hired Beltran, and No. 2 was
trustworthiness. Two of his key lieutenants, Allard Baird and Omar Minaya,
vouched for Beltran. If it turns out that he was a central figure to this
cheating scandal, all of them are going to look ridiculous, especially if
Beltran is retroactively suspended, forcing the Mets early in a managerial
tenure to wonder if Beltran is viable moving forward.” (And
why did they have to fire Edgardo Alfonzo? You may also want to look at Mack

rates the top athletes in the minors for all 30 teams: for the Mets
it is Ronny
Maurico.
Mets: Ronny Mauricio, SS (No. 1/MLB
No. 80) - A loose,
twitchy athlete, Mauricio flashed his five-tool upside last season as an
18-year-old at Class A Columbia, where the teenager impressed evaluators with
his abilities at shortstop along with his overall offensive potential as a
switch-hitter. He’s likely to lose a step as he grows into his incredibly
projectable 6-foot-3, 166-pound frame -- some scouts compare his body type to
Alfonso Soriano’s -- but the final product could be a player who hits for both
average and power from a premium position.

FYI, No Dominican games last night. We will include the results of the Friday games tomorrow and see which, if any, Mets are playing in Puerto Rico which starts Friday as well.
I love the depth these posts are reaching.
A lot of time needed to put these together.
Hope you are enjoying what you are doing.
P.S. I am disappointed at the lack of comments so far but all our new stuff goes down this path.
I can report that the teadership is increasing every morning.
Thanks Mack. I have been doing this every morning since 1995 or so. I am just sharing my surfing on the web. Also, once April comes we will be the only site to cover the Mets minors and Majors and all game results in one post.
A big Homer Simpson "D'oh!" from me for not remembering Heath Bell in the reliever series.
They sure could have used Heath in 2007. He was a one inning closer in AAA with great success but they wanted him as multiple inning middle relief in the majors. It did not go well. In SD he was used as a one inning late relief pitcher and it worked out great. Imagine that.
Reese - Heath Bell or no Heath Bell, your relief series is great. Tom is correct. It could be a book.
