Chris Young pitched 1 hit ball for 7 innings giving up just one run leaving with a 3-1 lead but it went for naught as the Nationals rallied to tie the game at 3 in the 8^th against D.J. Carrasco.  The game stayed tied until the 11^th when Washington scored 4 against Blaine Boyer.  David Wright, Ike Davis, and Angel Pagan each had an RBI for the Mets who scored twice in the 1^st but were held to just 1 run after that.

David Cone gave up 4 runs in 5 innings but still had a chance to win after the Mets took a 7-4 lead in the bottom of the 5^th highlighted by Gregg Jefferies’s base loaded single. Phillies tied the game in the 7^th off Doug Simons and Alejandro Pena with ex-Mets Lenny Dykstra and Wally Backman scoring 2 of the 3 runs.  Jeff Innis got the loss when he allowed a lead off walk in the 10th and was relaced by John Franco who walked two and allowed the run to score on a force out.  Another ex-Mets, Roger McDowell, got the win in relief for the Phillies.
