Young Simon (3 for 5, HR, 5 RBIs), who had dropped out of most top 30s, could abruptly change that for the better if he hits like this.
J Rod is hitting .455 in the early going. He has only 69 PAs after the Pham trade, but he is hitting .430/.537/.670 in those appearances.
Huh?? He turns 18 in 2 months. If anyone might play for the Mets as a teenager at age 19, it might be J Rod.

The DNPs…Gilbert is out for weeks more. Ronny out for months more.
LA Acuna on Tuesday was 1-5 and a walk. Hitting .214.
In AA:
Alex Ramirez down to .295 due to a 2 for 18 skid.
Jett W still on IL. .179, .360 on base in 11 games. He loves getting on base.
Matt Rudick stays hot with a a hit and walk. He is an on base freak, too.
Rhylan Thomas now off IL, 1 for 2 and a walk, hitting .300. He’ll do fine.
JT Schwartz a hit, 2 BBs. A sweet .413 OBP, but the 1B has just 1 HR.
Kevin Parada? 0 for 5, 4 Ks. # 11 pick. Just .167. Concerning?
Jeremiah Jackson? .153. Seems he may never stop striking out too much. But guys break out all the time.
- Kevin has 29 Ks in 93 PAs. JJ has a very similar 29 Ks in 94 PAs.
High A
Ryan Clifford a hit and 2 walks. Unlike last year, he refuses to fight the wind, with just a HR in 112 PAs, but a .440 OBP. He is IMO stuck in HIGH A for now. Schwartz and Vientos and others are in his way in AA and AAA. Clifford should, though, move up no matter what no later than July if he is producing.
Wilfredo Lara: 12 for 62 + 9 walks.
Nick Morabito was 1-5 in Brooklyn debut. Hitting .400 pre-promotion.
DNP Alert: Jacob Reimer has not had an at bat this year, and likely will be out for weeks longer. How many weeks? Too many.

Peterson, though, was doing it at a lower level in St Lucie, but he matched Megill’s 62 pitches, allowing just a hit and a walk and fanning 7 in 3.2 IP. Both are terrific so far in their rehab outings.

When the team in the majors is spinning its collective wheels at .500 and they have chosen to bench .286 hitting Harrison Bader with stellar defense for .185 hitting DJ Stewart with no defense, you risk bleeding from scratching your head so aggressively trying to figure out WHY????
Even Harry needs a day off now and then, so he does not turn into Hurting Harry of 2023, but I do see your point.
Reese, IMO, all hitters need some days off. I'd like to see the 2 iron men (Pete and Lindor) sit 8-12 games, and pinch hit in all of them. I think it would really help them.
Schwartz is organizational filler. He's a 6-2 power forward in a mid-major. His game does not translate. He's not "in the way" of Clifford or anyone.
And yes, Parada really needed to show us something this season. I had very much hoped that he'd be an attractive guy to trade this winter. It's my wild dream for Brett Baty, too. But just good enough that we can include you as a piece in a package deal.
I'm surprised (but not) that Reese stops the Bader/Stewart comparison by only looking at BA.
Try scratching your head a little more.
Consider OBP and SLG.
Consider RH and LH options.
Bader is being used properly. So is Stewart. What is so hard to understand?
I don't think it will hold up across a season, or maybe even beyond another month, but Stewart is profiling like Schwarber -- but with a far better OBP.
In more than 100 ABS, Bader has 1 HR & 7 RBI.
I don't see what's so hard to figure.
I'm with you, Jim. Stewart leads or is close to the team lead in almost every offensive category other than BA. Despite having many fewer AB than Pete, Nimmo, Lindor and others, check out his HR, OBP, Slg, OPS and RBI #s. His eye at the plate has resulted in many walks, and while I don't have the stats I'd bet that he has as high a pitch count per AB as anyone on the team.
Stewart should not be allowed on the playing field. His botched attempt in the first inning cost Butto two runs.
Jim, JT is in the way in terms of Clifford being promoted in weeks, not months. Unless Schwartz goes on a power binge, Clifford will pass him soon enough.
Jim, the comp to Schwarber is seemingly a very good one. Lots of RBIs, a key ingredient to winning.
