MACK – Let’s Revisit - C/1B - Vincent Perozo

Vincent Andrey Perozo is a 23-year-old left-handed hitting, right-handed throwing catcher in the New York Mets’ minor league system. He is currently with the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Background
  • Born March 6, 2003, in Barquisimeto, Venezuela.
  • Listed at 5'11", 170 lbs (some sources note around 6'0").
  • Signed by the Mets as an international free agent on July 2, 2019, at age 16 (the first day of the 2019–20 international signing period).
  • Missed the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 cancellation of minor league play.
  • Made his professional debut in 2021 with the Florida Complex League (FCL) Mets, skipping the Dominican Summer League.
He has primarily played catcher but has also seen time at first base and left field.Career Path and PerformancePerozo spent several seasons developing in Single-A with the St. Lucie Mets (2022–2025), with a brief High-A stint in Brooklyn late in 2025. In 2026 he has moved around the system: High-A Brooklyn, a one-game Triple-A debut with Syracuse, and primarily Double-A Binghamton (where he has been since mid-May, with a short time on the development list in August).

Career minor league batting line (approximate, through recent 2026 data): Around .214 AVG with 28 home runs and 164 RBI in over 1,200 at-bats.

2026 season - AAA/AA/A+ - 275-AB, 98-K, 10-HR, 33-RBI, 14-BB, .200/.267/.338/.606Scouting NotesEvaluators describe a left-handed hitter who stands tall and square with a smooth, uppercut swing that covers the lower zone well and can produce unexpected power (especially on low pitches). He can be vulnerable to pitches up in the zone, and his aggressive approach has contributed to higher strikeout rates and weaker contact at times.

Defensively, he is considered mobile behind the plate with solid framing/receiving and pitcher-handling skills, though his arm strength is only average at best, so he is not viewed as a standout defensive catcher. He is not a high-profile top prospect in major rankings and remains a developmental organizational player.

His 2026 progress at Double-A (especially the power display) represents a positive step after repeating lower levels.

Solid minor league catcher, unless he ups his game.
