Draft Weekend Game Notes
·
Georgia
Southern University pitcher Chris Beck entered
this season as a guaranteed top 20 pick in the upcoming 2012 draft, but now
that his team was vastly reduced in offensive talent when OF Victor Roache went down, Beck is basically just
hanging on as a possible late pick in that round. Beck came up short Friday
night in a 3-2 loss to Elon. He did complete his outing, but game up 4-R, while
striking out eight. His seasonal record fell to 1-2 and his ERA is still high
at 4.33.
·
Ringgold
H.S. (GA.) ace, Mathew Crownover, is scheduled
for season ending surgery next Friday. An MRI revealed a tear in his pitching
elbow.
·
New
Mexico (4-9) starter Austin House just doesn’t
have any luck. He went into Saturday’s game against Gonzaga 0-3, threw up nine
scoreless innings, but was pulled with his Lobos tied 1-1. They eventually won,
but House remains winless for the season, with a 3.95 ERA.
