@metsiac -- the roster was full at 40. Adding Cespedes would put them at 41. Someone had to go. Trading Verrett a week ago wouldn't have accomplished anything as it would have put the roster at 39 and Cespedes makes 40.
What he SHOULD have done was trade Verrett before the Rule V deadline as well as some other questionable choices like Matt Reynolds, Rafael Montero or left the recovering Marcos Molina or Chris Flexen off the 40-man. Then he could have created space and made room for Paul Sewald. For a team crying about bullpen woes, leaving him off is puzzling bordering on foolish given his career sub-3.00 ERA.
I watched Logan movie yesterday. I was too eager to watch this movie. It is the best movie till date. Watch full movie online. You will really like this movie.

Home run park, home run pitcher. O's did not do their homework. This is a home run for Sandy...addition by subtraction.
Wonder if they will add Sewald to that spot? or Barbosa?
If reports of the Orioles being interested in Granderson are true, why not hold off on this trade to see if Verrett could have been included in it?
Does the timing allow the Mets to protect another prospect from being a potential rule 5 draft target?

My guess is Sandy is trying to get a few things done before the collective bargaining agreement runs out at midnight
they needed the spot on the forty man. better to trade a guy you found expendable then let one of the prospects get picked in the rule 5
Wasn't the 40 "frozen" last week at the deadline to protect players from the Rule 5? If so, how did they add Cespedes and move Verrrtt?
Also, why didn't Sandy trade or release Verrett BEFORE the deadline, so they could protect someone else?
Very cpnfusing?
I was wondering the same thing regarding the Rule 5 draft

I will miss Logan because he's a nice guy.
That being said, the non-move on Sewald will probably backfire on the Mets.

What was the non-move on Sewald?
