1 – Emerson Hancock – Georgia 6-4

Had a
sophomore year of 14-ST, 1.99-ERA, 90.1-IP, 97-K, just 18-BB and 58-H. His
fastball runs up to 99, with movement and sink. Go back and read that again… 99
WITH MOVEMENT AND SINK. Has a potential higher fastball rating than Casey Mize.
In my
opinion , he won’t be the first player picked in the draft, but he will be the
first pitcher to go.
2 – Asa Lacy – Texas A&M LHP
6-4 215
Lacy
started out as a freshman, but quickly moved into the TAMU rotation as a
sophomore. He added muscle and raised his fastball velo to ranges up to 99. His
only downside seems to be the amount of walks he issues, but the rest of his
stat line is quite impressive. 2019: 15-GS, 8-4, 2.13, 88.2-IP, 130-K, 43-BB.
Find a
coach that can straighten this kid out and you have a stone ass killer.
3 – Cole Wilcox – Georgia
RHP 6-5 230
Wilcox is
a sophomore-eligible flame thrower who started as a reliever but is now the
Saturday starter behind Emerson Hancock (how’s that for a rotation?). Like
Lacy, he has added muscle and raised his fastball into the high 90s, even
touching 100+. Needs to work a little on that runs per game thing. 2019 stats:
19-apperances, 6-ST, 3-2, 4.07, 59.2-IP, 64-K… but 38-BB and 15 wild pitches.
Correct that and Wilcox will be an SP-1 in the majors.
4 - J.T. Ginn - Mississippi State RHP
6-2 204
Ginn was
a highly recruited pitcher out of high school who passed when the Dodgers
drafted him in the 30th round of the 2018 draft. His repetMid-90s
fastball and a ++ mid-80s slide. Very impressive stat line last year as a
sophomore: 17-starts, 8-4, 3.13, 86.1-IP, 105-K, only 19-BB.
5 – Tanner Burns – Auburn
RHP 6-0 205
Think
Marcus Stroman here. Burns has a mid-90s fastball, backed up with a change and
a curve. Excellent command of his fastball. Was only drafted in the 37th
round out of high school. 2019 stat line: 16-G, 15-ST, 4-4, 2.82, 79.2-IP,
101-K, 23-BB
6 – Jack Leftwich – Florida RHP 6-2 205
Leftwich
has had hype throughout his high school career. Seems like I’ve been following
this kid for a decade. Fastball is 92-96, with life, + curve and change. Made a
splash as a freshman and actually had a better year than he had in 2019, Still,
Leftwich has too much raw talent not to be picked in the first round. 2019
stats: 13-ST, 6-5, 5.31, 62.2-IP, 62-K, 18-BB
7 – Tommy Mace – Florida
RHP 6-6 200
Throws
very smoothly for a lanky big guy. Uses a 3/4arm slot. Fastball only tops out
in the low 90s. Big high spin curve. Hasn’t has the kind of success he was
projected to have so 2020 is a must season for him. 2019 stats: 16-starts, 8-5,
5.32, 89.2-IP, 74-K, 38-BB
8 – C.J. Van Eyk – Florida State RHP
6-1 185
Van Eyk
has a fastball that rides up into the high 90s (with movement), but it is his
low-80 changeup and hard power curve that makes this guy a future pro star.
2019 stat line: 18-starts, 10-4, 3.81, 99.1-IP, 129-K, 41-BB
9 – Hugh Fisher – Vanderbilt LHP
6-5 185
Fisher is
the top reliever projected in this draft; however, he is being converted to a
starter in his junior season. Still
needs to work on command issues , but you have to respect a 94-97 fastball with
a killer slider being thrown by a 6-5 lefty has to be respected.
2019 stat
line: 22-appearances, 2-0, 4,41, 34.2-IP, 46-K, 21-BB
10 – Garrett Crochet – Tennessee LHP
6-6 190
Crocket was
hit in the face on May 17th. He had a plate inserted in his jaw and
was back on the bump two weeks later. Mid-90s fastball, swing and miss slider,
and a curve that needs some work. High riser in the mocks. 2019 stat line:
18-G, 6-starts, 5-3, 4.02, 65-IP, 81-K, 22-BB

This will be a very deep draft, especially pitching wise.
Should get 3 maybe 4 studs out of this one.
