Fabian has an uphill battle ahead of him however, as the 2022 draft class for outfielders looks stacked early on. The top outfield prospect in the class, Elijah Green, also happens to be the top overall prospect, with other guys like Brock Jones, Druw Jones, Jared McKenzie and Cayden Wallace all battling for first round draft spots.
Fabian’s skillset leads to a pretty big boom-or-bust player profile, and he showed both versions of his game that cause scouts to be excited and nervous at the same time. One thing Fabian has going for him is the rare opportunity to prove his college doubters wrong. Unlike last year, he enters the upcoming season as more of a question mark than a sure thing. The talent in Fabian’s bat is real, but there are real concerns if he can harness it at the major league or even high minor league level.
Mack's spin -
Ya see, I see this all different.
I think Fabian will return this year to the star he was out of high school and put up mad numbers.
He hot 20 home runs in a 'bad season'. Come on.
I have him opening up on my board as my 3rd outfielder behind Elijah Greene and Andruw Jones.
8-5-21 - Prospects Live
Gavin Guidry
The LSU commit was relatively unknown to us heading into PG National, but ended the week as one of the better two-way talents in the class. A wiry 6’2”, 182 lb frame with a ton of room to add muscle, Guidry started the showcase with a 6.36 60 with a blazing 1.47 10-yard split. When he got into game play, the bat looked explosive putting a pair balls into the gaps, including an inside-the-park home run where he was able to showcase the plus speed as well. While Guidry doesn’t have top end bat speed, his ability to rotate and accelerate allows the bat to play up. In his one inning on the mound, the right hander was up to 92 with the fastball and showed a tight curveball and changeup. Really fun profile to watch this draft cycle.
Mack's spin -
Early paper on someone that was unknown to be at the top of the month.
He enters my SS board as #29.
7-27-21 - Prospect Love Top 100 2022 Prospects -
26 Carson Whisenhunt LHP East Carolina
Whisenhunt has some of the best pure stuff in the 2022 class. It's a premier tumbling changeup, flashing plus-plus on a number of occasions. The fastball is generally 91-94, touching 95, though the prototype body and athleticism suggests more may be on the way. He works in a slider as well, though the heater-cambio combo are his bread and butter and they induce a ton of swing and miss.

Impressive 2021 stat line -
2021 ECU stat line - 13-starts, 6-2, 3.77, 62-IP, 79-K
ECU was one of the darlings of college baseball last year behind the pitching of Whisenhust, Gavin Williams, and Tyler Smith.
I have him on my board as the 9th LHP.
7-20-21 - TTF -
Brock Porter, RHP, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s HS (MI)
I gotta show some love for my fellow Michigander, who also happens to be one of, if not thee, top high school pitcher coming into the 2022 draft at the moment. Porter’s fastball has been clocked at 99 mph, but usually rides in the mid-90s for most of the game. He’s got a plus-change up to go along with a decent curve. His slider needs some work, though. If he can keep his command in check and perfect his breaking stuff, he’ll headlining all pitchers in this class.

Prep stat line - 52 games, 52 2/3 innings pitched, 81 strikeouts, 0.91 WHIP
Very impressive pitcher. Fastball up to 99, ++ upper-70s change, 1400 spin rate... mid-70s curve.
The full package. Clemson commit.
I have him as my 11th RHP.

Ma'Khail Hilliard also announced his return hours after Fontenot.
Hilliard was one of the bright spots of the pitching staff over the last six weeks of the season, returning to his freshman year form and will likely be a starting candidate once again in 2022.
Mack's spin -
Starting new paper on Hilliard.
The 6-0 senior decided to return to LSU for the 2022 season. His mindset was obviously affected after his father died in a tubing incident in June.
2021 stat line - 21-games, 6-0, 4.31, 1.07, 54.1-IP, 53-K
For now, I place him back on my board as the 15th RHP
