A third key up-the-middle starter returns in junior center fielder TJ McCants, who looked noticeably more physical in my look this fall. Though he has added strength, McCants has not lost his speed (Bianco said he can still run the 60-yard dash in 6.3 or 6.4 seconds), which allowed him to take over center field after arriving at Ole Miss as a shortstop. He saw plenty of action at short this fall with McCants sidelined, and he’s capable of filling in there if needed, but with the depth of infielders on this team he’ll almost certainly remain in the outfield.
