B-Mets 6, Jacksonville 1

B-Mets Ride Long Ball Past Suns, 6-1

ST. LUCIE, FL – The Binghamton Mets launched three home runs to beat the Jacksonville Suns, 6-1, today at the New York Mets Spring Training facility. The Suns are the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins.

Eudy Pina, an outfielder out of the Dominican Republic, delivered the critical blow, a three-run homer. Pina hit five home runs with the Brooklyn Cyclones (SS-A) in 2012. Aderlin Rodriguez ripped a solo home run and also chipped in with an RBI single.

The run support was more than enough for starter Tyler Pill, who tossed 5-1/3 shutout innings for the victory. Pill was scooped up in the fourth round of the 2011 draft and went 9-5 with a 2.31 ERA between the Savannah Sand Gnats (Low-A) and St. Lucie Mets (High-A) last year.

The B-Mets continue their 11-game Spring Training schedule Tuesday against the Springfield Cardinals in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Individual tickets for all 71 Binghamton Mets 2013 home games are on sale now. Visit the NYSEG Stadium box office during regular operating hours, purchase them online at www.bmets.com or call the office at (607)723-METS.
