Tom Brennan - OLD MAN HITTING TRACKER VOL. 9
Jose Reyes & Curtis Granderson - if you've been following my series, you know I ask how the two old timers are doing, and are they helping or hurting the team.
While Jose has picked it up, Grandy remains in a persistent vegetative state, and going forward, the major damage has been done:
Jose Reyes has doubled his average recently, but was 0 for 3 last night, settling in at a subterranean .172. That sort of average does not win pennants. Nor does 12 runs and 5 RBIs in about 105 plate appearances.
The question is:
Can Jose hit 100 points better than that the rest of the way and be an asset?
Curtis Granderson, though, continues to hit like Curtis Sliwa. Grandy sits at .122 in about 100 plate appearances, with 7 runs scored and 6 RBIs. Hopefully, the bench seat he secured, while the far superior fielding Juan Lagares started last night and actually (yes) had a hit, will remain his bench seat while Juan gets a real chance to start.

Collectively, it's200 plate appearances by Juan & Grandy, best summarized as:
A WHOLE LOT OF UGLY
Their potential minor league replacement parts are uber-prospect Amed Rosario (.406/.454/.531 in Vegas) and the rehabbing Brandon Nimmo (.222/.391/.500 in 23 plate appearances). Hope on the horizon?
THE OLD MAN HITTING TRACKER CLOCK IS TICKING
