throw sim game instead. “The reason is simple: The Mets want to be able to
better control Jacob
deGrom’s pitch count on Sunday as he continues to ramp up towards a
potential Opening Day Start on July 23. That pitch count will be easier to
control in a sim game experience rather than facing another team in a live
exhibition game.”

previous outing, Stroman walked the bases loaded in the first inning. In
Friday’s intrasquad game, he allowed a pair of bombs, yielding three extra-base
hits in three uneven innings of work while striking out four and walking one.”

Mets manager Luis Rojas says Marcus Stroman was 'more consistent' in Friday's
intrasquad outing. “I thought from the start of the game, [Marcus
Stroman] was feeling his pitches,” Rojas
said. “His pitches to Dom [Smith] were nasty. He got Dom when he blended in
that cutter and threw that changeup in the dirt. He pitched really good the
first time through the order.” But once that lineup turned over, both Dominic
Smith and Amed
Rosario got to the 29-year-old right-hander, touching him up for
back-to-back homers. Rosario ripped a line-drive bullet over the wall in left,
while Smith sent a deep fly over the fence in right-center.

In the last concert hosted at Shea
Stadium, Billy Joel gets a little help from his friends as Paul McCartney
joins him on stage and sings "I Saw Her Standing There," to a
tremendous ovation from the sold-out crowd of 55,000 stunned fans. 'Sir Paul'
tells the crowd the Beatles had a 'blast' playing at Shea that night in 1965,
the year after the Mets home ballpark opened.

1964: Ken Boyer, Bill White and Tim McCarver of the Cards hit consecutive 8th-inning home
runs in a 15 - 7 bombing of the Mets.
2001: The Mets down Florida, 4 - 3, in 11 innings and see Marlins manager Tony Perez ejected for
arguing a call. It is his first ejection in 31 seasons and more than 3,800
games as a player and manager.
2011: Clay Hensley is
the winner in his first start since 2008 as
he beats the Mets,
4 - 1, allowing only one hit over five innings. Mike Stanton drives in two runs for the Marlins, who move to within a half game of catching the
Mets and escaping the NL East cellar.
It is the Fish's 9th win in their last 10 games and they are now 15-9 since Jack
McKeon took over as their manager.

It is amazing that articles are NOW being written about how blacks have turned theor backs to baseball when they did this decades ago.
Always loved Preston and Mookie. When the Rockies released him in 2006, the Mets should have grabbed him Instead he goes to the Cardinals and helps them with the WS. The Mets went and traded for Shawn Greene instead. Greene gave the Mets about a .750 OPS while Preston gave the Cards a .550 OPS in 2006. Just thought it was bad karma having Mookie sitting on the Cardinal sidelines. Think they could have used bother after they traded Nady.
