As we had yesterday on Mack’s Mets: Mets Send RHP Ryder Ryan to Texas to Complete Todd Frazier Trade. Anthony DiComo MLB.com: Ryan, 25, produced a 3.05 ERA at Double-A Binghamton in 2019. MetsFanMania: Ryan was traded to the Mets from Cleveland in the 2017 Jay Bruce trade. Tim Healey Newsday: The Mets still owe the Rangers a player for Robinson Chirinos.




Anthony DiComo Mets.com: Is a blockbuster trade in the cards for Mets? “If you’re talking about defensively, our third-base situation is probably a little bit up in the air,” Alderson said. “Is it as glaring a need as like a third or fourth starter? I don’t think so. But look, we’re gonna look for targets of opportunity. And if there are ways to make our team better in areas where we’re not the weakest but could use an upgrade, then those are things that Jared and the organization will have to consider.”

Mike Lupica Mets.com: Arenado a long shot worth taking for Mets. “I believe that Arenado would come to New York and do what another ex-Rockie -- LeMahieu -- has done on the other side of town. Mike Puma NY Post: Mets’ free agent pitching options after Trevor Bauer include a clear best fit. Masahiro Tanaka; “’I think he’s a perfect No. 3 guy,” said a talent evaluator from a NL team. “He’s proven that he’s not affected by the bright lights of pitching in a big market.’ A second talent evaluator placed Tanaka as the clear best option in the pool that also includes Paxton, Kluber and Odorizzi.”

NY Post: Tomoyuki Sugano is tempting MLB free-agency option after Trevor Bauer. “The right-handed pitcher is a two-time winner of the Eiji Sawamura Award, NPB’s equivalent of the Cy Young award, capturing the honors in 2017 and 2018. In eight seasons in the NPB, Sugano has posted a 2.32 ERA, throwing 1,360 innings and striking out 1,214 with 37 complete games.”

Jeffrey Bellone Mets Briefing: Extending Michael Conforto. “Michael Conforto has some good timing: 1) He is coming off a shortened 2020 campaign that earned him an All-MLB Second Team honor after slashing .322/.412/.515 with 9 home runs and 31 RBIs in 54 games; 2) He is a contract extension candidate; both just as the wealthiest owner in sports takes over the Mets.”

Rising Apple: Delivering Tyler Flowers to Flushing makes more sense. “On a one-year deal, Flowers can provide the Mets with a multitude of games and fill in admirably if James McCann lands on the IL. He’s an upgrade over the question mark sitting above Tomas Nido’s head.”

In Australia, Blue Sox – Aces Games called off.  Sydney’s series against Melbourne at Blacktown Sportspark will not be completed this weekend to allow the Aces the chance to get back to Victoria ahead of likely COVID-19 border restrictions being introduced.

Tyler Flowers fanned 34 times in 80 ABs. And is turning 35 I think. Is that a viable back up? Or is he washed up.

Far gas is very impressive in his short (so far) winter ball stint. He has my attention now. Can he stay hot? Did he find another gear?

Fargas has been doing well though it is probably against AA or A pitching. What I like about him is that he has things you can't teach Speed abd CF defense. Hope to see him at AAA this year.
