Rays sure know how to accumulate top prospects - 8 in the Top 100 - wow.
Tigers 5 out of the top 25.
and if the Rays don't have enough of their own, they trade off a piece here and there to collect more - I think 3 of those 8 are originally from the Padres system.
Something the Mets never do. And if the Rays can, you don't have to be a tanking team to restock.
Interesting piece on the Post about "Mickey Callaway may have made it easier for the Mets to land Bauer"
My next comment is "if he is that hard to work with, why would the Mets want him"? Remember that Callaway did really good things with that staff other than Bauer - a couple Cy Youngs for Kluber .. perennially in the playoff chase.
1969 - The only time I remember the Mets stocking prospects was in the early 80's when Frank Cashen first came in. Mazilli for Terrel and Darling; Carlos Diaz and Bob Bailor for Sid Fernandez; Joel Youngblood for Tom Gorman; etc.
Agree 100% on Baurer. Should have over spent for Springer instead.
