BRB KRANICKING MY MAX

Mack –

You have to really love a pitcher if you are going to analyze an outing of only 1.1-IP thrown.

Once again, Kranick was masterful. He mixed his slider (42.9% thrown), 4-seamer (35.7%), and curve (21.4%) with surgical results. As usual, no overwhelming speed here. The fastball averaged only 93.8. But, here’s the deal…

THE BARREL% FOR ALL PITCHES THROWN WAS…    0.0%

Un-barrel-evable

Small sample alert:

Brett Baty has appeared more than passable at second base in the early season.

Of his 13 attempts at second, Statcast estimates an 80% success rate compared to his actual 85% success rate. Baty’s been slightly above estimated success rate in all 3

David Peterson was not dealing with an injury on the mound today, which is why he stayed in as long as he did. He was experiencing nausea and blurred vision. "He felt like he got punched in the stomach," Carlos Mendoza said.

Brooklyn Cyclones            @BKCyclones

Chris Suero hits his second home run of the season - a three-run blast - to extend the Cyclones lead to 4-0 in the 8th

Lots of good news. I was calling on Kranick to make the team after his second spring appearance. Brazoban sensational.

McLean could be the Mets' best prospect. Couldn't he be an SP 1?

Shame Peterson couldn't get 1 more out to pick up the W.

Suero is your guy, Mack. He is off to an excellent start.

Wilmer's first pro season was 2008. I think Colin Houck was 3 years old at the time.

Re Kranick -

I didn't expect this so it's all bonus time for me.

Re: McLean -

My prediction is this guy will be the top Mets pitching prospect by the end of this season

At least an SP2

It was either leave or shit in his pants

Re: Suero

I'm sticking with Ronald Hernandez as my top catcher prospect

Knew him well back in his Sand Gnats days

My wife and I vacationed in Savannah, Ga. in , I believe, 2009 and saw a four game series with the Sand Gnats. Wilmer Flores and Juan Lagares were in the line-up for the series. Both had good games while we were there. I remember an older gentleman who ,as the infielders took the field, like a drill instructor would call each player by position and command " be ready shortstop, be ready second baseman". Everybody on that field jumped to attention. Great series at the park.

Kranick has been impressive so far. I hope he can maintain it as the league begins to learn him.

Looks like the rainy weather will sop by gametime, but it will be 42 degrees and high humidity. I would never go to a BB game in that weather.

Tom Brennan said...

Why stop there? Tuesday night's Mets game will be dry, breezy, 37 degrees. Wed afternoon's game dry and a sweltering 45 degrees. Yankees meanwhile had an 80 degree day on their opening homestand. It Happens Every Spring.

I love Wilmer. I check his stats everyday on baseball reference. The man has 157 career HR's. Not too shabby. He's put together a nice career. He also proved there IS crying in baseball. I'll never forget that game

Don't like Danny Young? Lefty Anthony Gose in spring and AAA? 10 innings, 5 hits, 1 run.

Tom Brennan said...

And Gose qualifies as a competent extra pinch hitter, an advantage.
