Utley gets booed, Tejada cheered, Granderson a 5 RBIs night, Cespedes a big 3-run homer, Mets overcome a 5 inning, 3 run start by Harvey to go up 2 game to 1 in the best pf 5 series.
NY Post: Inspired Mets erupt to push Utley’s Dodgers to the brink. "Curtis Granderson, Yoenis Cespedes and Travis d’Arnaud all delivered big hits, making Matt Harvey’s mediocre start a footnote on a night the Mets rolled to a 13-7 victory in Game 3 of the NLDS...Harvey missed a Mets workout before the start of the series and there was wonderment Monday night if he had remembered to show for the game, as the Dodgers raced to a 3-0 lead against him in the second inning. But the right-hander recovered to survive five innings in which he allowed seven hits with seven strikeouts and two walks, throwing 97 pitches...Granderson, who finished with five RBIs, smashed a three-run double in the second inning to give the Mets a lead they never surrendered."
NY Post: "Though Chase Utley ensured Ruben Tejada wouldn’t play again this postseason — having fractured the Mets shortstop’s right fibula during Game 2 of the NLDS — Tejada still played a significant role in the Mets’ 13-7 Game 3 win over the Dodgers, inspiring his teammates and igniting the Citi Field crowd after limping out with a cast on his leg and a cane in his hand to join his teammates during pregame introductions."
NY Post: "Terry Collins didn’t think he’d need to use closer Jeurys Familia on Monday night, with the Mets leading by nine runs entering the ninth inning, but after rookie Erik Goeddel allowed three runs and four hits without recording an out, Collins wasn’t taking any chances — whether he needed Familia or not. With the Mets’ lead over the Dodgers cut to 13-7 and a runner on base, Familia revived the once-raucous Citi Field crowd by striking out Adrian Gonzalez and ending Game 3 of the NLDS by retiring the next two batters he faced to give the Mets a 2-1 series lead."
