Nick Morabito Heating Up In The Desert

Mets Arizona Fall League Report:

Two Met prospects were in action in yesterday's afternoon's AFL game as the Scottsdale Scorpions lost in Glendale 13-7.

The Mets number 16 prospect, Nick Morabito played left field and went 2-for-4, with two RBI's, two walks, and two stolen bases. Morabito is batting .375 with an OPS of 1.000 in his first AFL games.

D'Andre Smith was also in the starting lineup and played left field. He went 0-for-4, with a run scored.

No Met pitchers played today. The Scottsdale Scorpions will play tomorrow after at 1:30pm MST against the Mesa Solar Sox. Saturday's AFL Tucson Tripleheader was cancelled due to Tropical Storm Priscilla's remnants impacting most of Arizona this weekend.

Currently, I don't have Morabito pegged as a future Mets starting outfielder. That honor would go to Juan Soto, Carson Benge, and AJ Ewing.

Next year’s co-starting center fielder in Syracuse, Morabito would be EXACTLY what the Mets lineup needs more than the lefty power hitting Benge.
