Billy Amick (full name William Lyndon Amick) is a 23-year-old right-handed hitting/throwing third baseman (also plays first base) in the New York Mets organization. Born November 4, 2002, in Mooresville, North Carolina, he stands 6'1" and weighs about 220 lbs. He is the son of former NASCAR driver Lyndon Amick. Amateur/College CareerHe attended P27 Academy in Lexington, South Carolina, and played college baseball at Clemson and Tennessee.
- At Clemson (2022–2023): Limited as a freshman, then broke out as a sophomore in 2023, hitting .413/.464/.773 with 13 home runs and 63 RBI in 46 games. He earned first-team All-ACC and All-America honors.
- Transferred to Tennessee for 2024: Hit .306 with a 1.026 OPS, 23 home runs, and 65 RBI in 65 games as the starting third baseman. He helped the Volunteers win the 2024 College World Series national championship.
Professional CareerThe Minnesota Twins selected him in the 2nd round (60th overall) of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Tennessee. He signed for a $1.45 million bonus. - 2024: Debuted in Low-A with Fort Myers.
- 2025: Strong season mostly at High-A Cedar Rapids (.310 AVG, .873 OPS, 4 HR in limited action).
- 2026 (pre-trade with Twins’ Double-A Wichita): Hit .217/.338/.482 with 23 home runs and 72 RBI in 86 games (power stood out despite lower average). He ranked as Minnesota’s No. 21 prospect (MLB Pipeline) before the trade.
On July 31, 2026, the Mets acquired Amick and infielder Bruin Agbayani (son of former Met Benny Agbayani) from the Twins in exchange for left-handed reliever A.J. Minter. He was assigned to Double-A Binghamton and immediately produced: In his first stretch with the Rumble Ponies (around 9–12 games), he hit around .300–.344 with a high OPS (over 1.100–1.300 range in early reports), including multiple multi-homer games and a stretch of 5–7 home runs with strong RBI production. In mid-August 2026 (around August 17–18), the Mets promoted him to Triple-A Syracuse. Overall Profile and OutlookAmick is a power-oriented corner infielder with raw power that has translated well in the minors (career MiLB numbers around .25x AVG with solid OPS and home run totals that jumped significantly in 2026). Contact and strikeout rates have been areas to watch, but his post-trade hot streak and quick promotion show promise. He is not currently ranked among the Mets’ top 30 prospects by MLB Pipeline in some recent mentions, but his production has drawn attention as a potential future contributor at first or third base. As of late August 2026, he is with the Syracuse Mets (Triple-A) continuing to develop in the Mets system.

Low # of pro at bats, high Ks, but high RBI and HR output. He needs to get another 300-500 at bats in minors to get a better read, but the power is special
