Mets Sign INF Russ Adams to Minor League Deal
Veteran Led Bisons with 28 Doubles, 46 extra-base hits in 2010
The New York Mets have signed INF RUSS ADAMS to a minor league contract with an invite to major league spring training camp.
Adams, 30, spent the entire 2010 season with the Bisons, his first season in Buffalo. The veteran hit .264 (101-383) with a career-high 16 home runs and 58RBI in 108 games with the Herd. He also finished 1st on the team with 28 doubles and 46 extra-base hits and tied for the team-lead with 58RBI.
Adams hit .303 (36-119) after the All-Star Break with a .647 slugging percentage. Primarily a second baseman, Adams also helped an injury-depleted Bisons outfield by making four starts in left field and 17 in right field.
Adams has played 286 major league games, all with the Toronto Blue Jays from 2004-2009. He has a career .247 (218-884) average in the big leagues with seven home runs and 113RBI.
