LAST GAME: The B-Mets blew a one-run lead in the eighth inning and watched their four-game winning streak end in a 6-5 loss to the Trenton Thunder last night at NYSEG Stadium. The Thunder pounded out 13 hits, including three home runs, to extend their lead in the Eastern Division. Owning a 5-4 lead, Ryan Fraser took over in the eighth, but allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in his first blown save and second loss. Danny Farquhar made the lead stand with two scoreless innings of relief to collect his fifth save. Graham Stoneburner allowed one run over three innings in his first win. B-Mets starter Darin Gorski matched a career-high by allowing three home runs over six innings in his fourth-straight no-decision. Reese Havens led Binghamton’s offense with a two-run homer.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Greg Peavey (3-6, 6.23) makes his 17th start of the season and second against the Thunder. Peavey has lost his last five decisions and gone winless in eight straight games. His last win came against the Portland Sea Dogs on May 20. Peavey took the no-decision in his last start versus the Erie SeaWolves on July 12. The righty surrendered seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over five innings in a game the B-Mets lost 11-7. Peavey conceded one run on four hits over five innings in a no-decision in his only previous start versus Trenton on June 10.

RHP Dellin Betances (1-1, 2.41) makes his fourth start of the year with the Thunder after being sent down from the Scranton/WB Yankees (AAA) in late June. Betances allowed four runs on five hits over 6.2 innings in a win over of the New Britain Rock Cats in his last start on July 12. The New York City native started the season in the International League, going 3-5 with a 6.39 ERA in 16 starts. He issued 69 walks and uncorked 13 wild pitches over 74.2 innings in his time in Triple-A. Selected in the 8th round of the 2006 draft out of Grand Street HS (NY), Betances went 4-6 with a 3.42 ERA in 21 starts with Trenton last year. He tossed four games with Scranton/WB before making his Major League debut with the Yankees in September.

HALTED AT FOUR AGAIN: Last night’s lost lead snapped Binghamton’s winning streak at four games. They have not had a winning streak of five games or more since August 2011. They have put together three separate four-game winning streaks this season.

GORSKI GOPHER BALL: Darin Gorski matched a career-high by allowing three home runs last night, including back-to-back shots by Addison Maruszak and Zoilo Almonte. It was the third time this season Gorski has allowed consecutive home runs.

TACKING ON: The three homers last night raised Trenton’s league-leading total to 114. The closest team in the league has 32 fewer (Bowie: 82).

FLOR-ING IT: B-Mets infielder Wilmer Flores went 2-for-4 last night with an RBI double. In just 22 games as a B-Met, Flores has recorded multiple hits 10 times.

LOOKING FOR HOME COOKING: B-Mets starting pitcher Greg Peavey has gone winless in his last eight starts at NYSEG Stadium. His last win at home came in his Double-A debut on April 9 against the Erie SeaWolves.

BUSTING OUT THE LUMBER: Reese Havens’ homer in the third inning last night was his eighth of the season and second of the homestand. It was his 20th in his three years as a B-Met. Through the first six games of the stay in the Southern Tier, Binghamton has ripped eight homers, already their highest total of year in one stand at home.

PACKING THEM IN: Last night’s paid attendance of 5,419 was the fourth-largest crowd of the season. Three of Binghamton’s top five best attended games have occurred on weekdays. Yesterday was the highest attendance for a Monday in 2012.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets wrap up their eight-game homestand tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 PM. RHP Cory Mazzoni takes on against LHP Vidal Nuno.
