The fourth game of the four game series was played between the Savannah Sand
Gnats and the Rome Braves in front of 914 fans Sunday afternoon at Grayson
Stadium. Both teams had 6 hits apiece and Savannah won the game 5-1 to even the
series at 2-2.
Once again Savannah pitching was superb. Starter Domingo
Tapia pitched 7 strong innings in the brutal afternoon heat and did not
allow his only hit until the 7th, gave up 1 run(unearned), walked 2 and struck
out 8. Reliver Marco Camarena pitched 1 inning, gave up 3 hits and struck
out 1. Closer T. J. Chism allowed 2 hits in the 9th inning, walked 1 and
struck out 2. With the win, Tapia improved his record to (5-2).
In the
first inning, Savannah scored 3 runs. Gilbert Gomez was hit by a pitch,
Dustin Lawley drew walk, and a hit by Grey Pron scored Gomez.
A double by Cole Frenzel drove in two runs. Sand Gnats scored two
more runs in the 5th inning.
