Daily Mets Minors Report – 7-12-12

Date: 7-12-12

MLB:

Joe Spector -  So Robinson Cano was booed mercilessly by Kansas City fans last night during the Home run Derby. I get it you hate the Yankees but seriously what have the Yankees done to you? You're friggin Kansas City. Did he pee on your charcoal briquettes? Kansas City, you haven't EARNED the right to boo a Yankee like that. Mets fans, Red Sox fans, even Tampa Bay fans...sure. Kansas City...SHUT YO MOUTH!
Dan Schlossberg  -  REALLY enjoyed the All-Star Game last night, especially since it extends the NL's string to three straight. I'm not fan of the game being used to determine World Series home-field advantage -- that's a shameless publicity stunt engineered by FOX -- but I like the NL having that advantage anyway since I'm a National League fan.
Hank Aaron will play Jackie Robinson in upcoming ‘42’ movie…

MLB - Mets:
Brian Costa -  Dr. Lawrence Gardner, the acting co-director of hematology at NYU Langone Medical Center, said arterial clots are generally more serious than those found in veins because they can restrict the flow of blood to muscles and vital organs. The fact that doctors had to insert a catheter, rather than merely putting Gee on blood thinners, indicates that it was more than just a minor issue, Gardner said. According to Collins, doctors are trying to determine how much shoulder damage the clot caused. "His hand was ice cold," Collins said. "No blood flow in there."

Union chief Michael Weiner confirmed Tuesday that interleague matchups between natural rivals -- including the Mets and Yankees -- will be limited to three or four games a season going forward, not six

Mets right-hander Dillon Gee will undergo potentially season-ending surgery on Friday to repair artery damage in his shoulder, a source told Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com.  Gee should be able to throw in six to eight weeks but the best case scenario would be a late September or October return if the Mets reach the playoffs.

Mike Vaccaro‏ - #Mets have so far balanced achievement and patience this year. Elevating Harvey too soon seems like it would compromise one ... or both
