Daily Mets Minors Report – 7-13-12

Date: 7-13-12

MLB:

Royals will consider Zack Greinke as FA

Released RHP Matt McSwain

MLB - Mets:

MLB Players Assoc. named David Wright Mets winner of "Heart & Hustle" award for "passion for game & best embody values, spirit, tradition…”

Per Buffalo Bisons - New York has placed Bisons LHP JOSH EDGIN on the 24-hour Taxi Squad and he will be promoted before their game tomorrow. Edgin will be making his Major League debut.

AAA – Buffalo:

RHP Jeremy Hefner will make his eighth start of the season tonight. After a more than month-long stint with the Mets, Hefner return to the Bisons last week. On July 5, the righty tossed four shutout innings of relief in a 9-8 victory over Syracuse in 14 innings.

Buffalo was just having fun and walking through a 4-1 beating of Pawtucket and then Tuck-it said Fuk-it and le the dogs out foe 4 runs…

The good news?  0.2-scorless innings (sic) for Jenrry Mejia. I just don’t understand why this kid isn’t starting…

A bunch of AAA and AAAA players had a bunch of hits… but let’s get back to Mejia.

Has anyone a direct line phone number for either Fred, Jeff, or Sandy. Nornally, I would be thrilled with Depo and that’s from a guy that has NEVER had a return call from Tim Heilman.

Is Jerry lurking somewhere in Buffalo driving Mejia around in a golf cart like he did during his last ST with the Mets?

DOESN’T EVERYONE KNOW DILLON GEE IS IN A HOSPITAL ROOM.

DOESN’T EVERYONE KNOW THAT JENRRY MEJIA IS NOT A MINOR LEAGUER.

DOES ANYONE REALIZE THAT JENRRY MEJIS IS A STARTER?

AA-Binghamton:

RHP Greg Peavey (3-6, 5.94) makes his 16th start of the season and third against the Erie SeaWolves. Peavey has lost his last five decisions and his winless streak has stretched to seven games. His last win came on May 20 against the Portland Sea Dogs. Peavey lost his last start to the Richmond Flying Squirrels on July 4. He surrendered six runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings. In his first two starts versus the SeaWolves Peavey has gone 1-1 with a 3.75 ERA. Erie has hit .245 against him over 12.0 innings. He earned the win in his Double-A debut against Erie on April 9.

LHP Ramon Garcia (6-7, 3.86) makes his 15th start of the season and second against the B-Mets. The southpaw comes off a no-decision against the Akron Aeros on July 6. He allowed three runs on seven hits, including two home runs, over 6.2 innings in a game the SeaWolves would win 6-3 in comeback fashion. Garcia suffered the loss against the B-Mets in his first start of the season on April 9. He conceded four runs on seven hits over three innings.

Tonight

After 7 innings, the B-Mets had 15 hits… and were losing. I love this game.

One thing related to Matt Harvey and Jenrry Mejia, PROMOTE ZACK WHEELER TO AAA… he’s ready to pitch next to the big guys in the organization while they are still around. Only a fool would send him to Queens, but he doesn’t need to pitch in AA anymore (also, if and when Harvey goes to Queens, he needs to wave goodbye to him, turn around, and feel the rush of being ‘da man’.

Game wise… sigh… lot of hits by none prospects… last time I looked, Wilmer Flores and Reese Havens were a combined 2-10.

Greg Peavey pitched. I just can’t seem to keep saying the same thing about some of these guys.

A+ - St. Lucie: -

Tonight

Loss,  2-4

Jason Bay went 0-for-3 with a walk for Class A St. Lucie and played a full seven-inning game in LF

3B Aderlin Rodriguez played his first game in St. Lucie… 103, .333.

A – Savannah: -

Tonight

Loss 2-3

Another QS from Michael Fulmer – 5.0-IP, 3-H, 2-R, 3-K… did have 3-BB so a little less pounding last night… era down to 2.76 -  (19-years old)

Only 4 Savannah hits so nothing to brag about…

Playing 3B (with the departed Aderlin Rodriguez to St. Lucie) was Dustin Lawley  (1-4, double). Brian Harrison remains entrenched at third.

A-Low – Brooklyn:

Tonight

W, 4-1

SP Rainy Lara was lights out – 6-0-IP, 8-K, 1-BB, 3-H, 2.91, 21-years old

CF Brandon Nimmo - .188 (Matt Barnes – 7-2, 2.44 combined A/A+)

Rookie – Kingsport:

Tonight

Rained out again.

What's the deal with Rainy Lara? Haven't heard too much about him.

It's too early to say whether or not Lara is the real deal. He's pitching kinda old at his current level and we'll keep an eye on him...
