Puerto Rico handed the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team its first loss in
Honkbal Week, 3-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Pim Mulier Stadium. A former relief
pitcher with the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets, Padilla

RHP Jeremy Hefner takes the mound tonight for his ninth
start of the season. This will be his first start at Coca-Cola Field since May
15 against Gwinnett. In five starts at home, the righty is 2-2 with 2.84ERA in
31.2 innings of work. Hefner has gone at least seven innings in five of his
eight starts this season.

Scouts don’t know what to make of him (Brandon Nimmo), other than really liking him. For such
a raw player, he consistently puts together quality at-bats, but for every
scout that thinks he’s going to turn into a power hitter, you can find one who
thinks he’s going to be more of a high-average gap-to-gap type. The good news
is nobody seems to think he’s going to be bad, and we have plenty of time to
figure out what kind of good player he has the potential to be.
