MLB –
MLB - Mets:
Did you notice how much
that movie dud loos like Josh Stinson?
Mets promote P Jeremy Hefner.
The Mets traded
infielder Omar Quintanilla, to the Orioles in
exchange for cash.
AAA – Buffalo:
RHP Matt Harvey takes the hill for his 20th start of the
season -the fifth pitcher in the IL to reach 20 starts this season. The righty
is coming off of two straight quality starts, with 10 strikeouts in 12.2
combined innings of work. Harvey has 106 strikeouts on the season, third most
in the International League. The total is also tied for the 10th most in a
single season by a Bisons pitcher in the modern era.
Last
night – L, 0-11… I repeat, L, 0-11
SP Matt Harvey - 5 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 2 HR, 1
HBP. 96 pitches (61 strikes). Boy, the last thing the Mets needed was an outing
like this. First Wheeler, now Harvey. Good grief, Charlie Brown.
RP Justin Hampson (1.90)
continues to impress, but I don’t know how to analyze Manny Acosta (5-R, none
earned).
Two Bisons hits.
Next.
AA-Binghamton:
RHP Cory Mazzoni placed on disabled list (right thumb
laceration), retroactive to 7/19
LHP C.J. Nitkowski assigned to Binghamton (AA)
RHP Gonzalez Germen (6-6, 4.17) makes his 12th start of
the season with Binghamton and second against the Baysox. German has won two
straight games, defeating the Erie SeaWolves in his most recent start on July
15. The righty matched a career-high with eight innings and allowed just three
runs on five hits to lead the B-Mets to a 13-3 win. Bowie handed Germen the loss
back on June 27 at NYSEG Stadium. They tagged the righty for four runs on six
hits over five innings, tied for his second-shortest outing as a B-Met. Germen
was promoted from St. Lucie (High-A) on May 4 after going 3-0 with a 3.04 ERA
in five games (four starts).
LHP Jacob Pettit (7-2, 3.94) makes his 14th start of the
season and first since July 5. Pettit’s last two appearances came as a
piggy-back starter with Mike Wright. The southpaw last pitched against the Erie
SeaWolves on July 17. He surrendered five hits over four shutout innings in a
7-2 Bowie loss. Selected by the Orioles in the 42nd round of the 2010 draft out
of Western Oregon University, Pettit is in his third pro season and first with
the Baysox. The Orting, Washington native split last season between the
Delmarva Shorebirds (Low-A) and Frederick Keys (High-A). Tonight is his first
career appearance against the B-Mets.
Last night, L, 5-7
Nine hits by the B-Mets…
Reese Havens 0-3 (.229), Mike Baxter continues to rehab (3-3, 1-R, 1-RBI) and Wilmer Flores 1-5 (.320).
The highlight of the
night was the start of the C.J. era…
1.0-IP, 0-R, 0.00. He must be in his cups this morning.
A+ - St. Lucie: -
Last night – game suspended after 4-IP, 6-2
C Blake Forsythe was having a great night… 2-2, 1-R, 3-RBI,
double, BA back up to .267. I would love to see Blake finish strong and start
next year at AA. Folks, this could still be a future answer to Mets catching.
Sadly, Yohan Almonte will
never get credit for this game, going the four innings and giving up only one
earned run.
A – Savannah:
-
Last night – WIN, 7-0
I was critical the last
time I wrote about Jimmy Fuller, not because of
his ability, but his age. He was wonderful last night (6.0-IP, 1-H, 0-R), but is
stuck at A-level with nowhere to go in this pitching-talented organization.
Another big night for
3B Dustin Lawley… 3-5, 1-R, double, triple,
2-RBI (.270)… it’s good to see him hitting well at home (.236) instead of only
on the road (.295). God, I hate Grayson Stadium.
The scouts were out
again to see CF Gilbert Gomez (2-4, 3-R, double,
triple, walk). As you can see, he didn’t disappoint.
A-Low – Brooklyn:
Last night – L, 1-3
(this is not the time for this team to start losing…)
Only four Clone hits… the
forgotten DH Jeff Glenn – 2-4, 1-R, 1st-HR,
1-RBI, .22o.
SS Phillip Evans down to .235. 2B Jeff Reynolds .214.
Rookie –
Kingsport:
Last night – loss, 4-13
(back to normal…)
Good night at the plate
by RF Jeff Diehl (2-4, 1-R, 2.50) and 1B Jeyckol De Leon (2-3,.260). SS Gavin Cecchini 0-4, .244.
Bad outing for John Gant – 2.2-IP, 7-ER, 7.94.
Rookie - DSL
Mets:
1B Miguel Leaf – 1-3, .329
RP Nicolas Debora – 1.2-IP, 0-R, 0.00
LF Vincente Lupo – 8th home run of the season –
SEND HIM A VISA
SP Kelvin Canelon – 5 scoreless inning 2.35
