#17 RHP Gabriel Ynoa
Bats: R Throws: R
Height: 6' 2" Weight: 158 lb
Acquired: 2009 international signing, Dominican Republic
2012: (SS-A) 5-2, 2.23 ERA, 7.5 K/9, 1.2 BB/9, 0.926 WHIP
2011: (R) 2-3, 3.21 ERA, 4.3 K/9, 0.6 BB/9, 1.089 WHIP
Ynoa is an excellent sleeper combination of both a) short season results and b) projectability. At 6' 2" but only a measly 158 lbs you'll be sure that the Mets organization will be having him drink extra muscle milk and working out in the gym to grow into his pitcher's frame. He's already hitting between 92-94 mph with his fastball, has excellent control, and an advanced feel for his change-up. Add another 5 mph to that and a third pitch and you have the potential for another front-line starter in a system that is VERY deep in pitching talent. Not to mention that he will probably start the season as one of the youngest players in the SAL league at only 19 years old.
Anticipated Assignment: (A) Savannah starting rotation.
