The Major League Baseball Season or what is left of it finally
got underway and the Mets went 1-2 during the weekend against the Braves, which
saw Yoenis Cespedes hit his first homerun in two years and helped the Mets win
the first game of the series with Edwin Diaz getting the save. It was rewarding
for Cespedes, because he felt that he had to prove some fans and media wrong
that no longer had confidence in him.
On Saturday Diaz had a gut wrenching blown save by giving up
a game tying home run to Marcell Ozuna and the Braves went on to win 5-3 in
extra innings. The Braves trounced the Mets on Sunday 14-1 and Rick Porcello
was erratic. They found the offense last night against the Red Sox and hit
three home runs for a 7-4 victory.
Baseball is not out of the woods yet, because the sport has
it a roadblock due to the pandemic. Unfortunately, four players from the Miami Marlins
tested positive for corona virus on Sunday and another seven players and two
coaches tested positive for corona virus on Monday. A public health official
thought that things were moving too fast when he heard that the sports leagues
were coming back to resume play. He knew it was eventually going to happen.
It caused the postponement of Monday’s games between the Marlins
and the Orioles at Marlins Park and the Yankees versus the Phillies at Citizens
Bank Park, which was where the Marlins played the Phillies on Sunday even
though both teams knew about the bad news coming. The commissioner announced on
Monday that the Marlins and Orioles would not play their game scheduled for today
in Miami and if the testing is acceptable the two teams will resume playing on
Wednesday in Baltimore.
You do what you have to do to be safe. Long before the
season began, some thought there were many hurdles baseball would have to jump
over just to start the season and once they do start the season, there is also
the chance that a problem can occur if a player tested positive on his team
during the season while it was going on and look what happened now. Also,
before the season they spoke about the players have to be taken care of and
protected before they decide to play any sport which is of the utmost
importance.

For me... it is far too early to evaluate this season but we might already be exposing the fact that the pen has not improved this year, no matter what it looks like on paper.
Corona virus spike in baseball will stop the season if what happened to the Marlins happens a few more times. I wonder how it happened? Carelessness?
If you can watch the opening day Cespedes HR on replay, you will see he was high fiving a bunch of guys in the dugout. To me, a sign of letting down their guard. Most times, you get away with it, but sometimes not so fortunate.

2. He let the ENTIRE TEAM stay in the dugout, like sardines, during a rain delay.

I think the 2020 bullpen will be better than the 2019 one
The players have to be more cautious
Since some players caught the virus and if more players come down with it, perhaps calling off the rest of the season would be possible and just look forward to the 2021 season
