2B 5-9 175 South Georgia State
Matty Warren South Georgia State (GA) Delray Beach Lightning UTL RS Sophomore (draft eligible 2021) 5’9/175 L/R Lakeland, FL Draft History: Undrafted
Warren is a high energy player with an athletic, strong frame that can be compared to Adam Eaton. Warren has twitchy actions with a plus arm and is an average defender. He’s a versatile player as he was utilized at 2B, 3B, SS and the outfield. He has a quick, compact swing from the left side and has gap to gap type power. Most of the summer he hit over the .300 mark but finished at .250 with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 14 RBI’s and 28 walks.

Matthew Warren is a 2018 2B/SS with a 5-7 150 lb. frame from Lakeland, FL who attends George W. Jenkins High School. Medium build with athleticism, ran an impressive sixty time of 7.44 to showcase ability to utilize speed on the bases and defensively. A primary infielder, long gather, smoothness to his backhand plays, accurate throws, quick release, solid arm, throws had some carry. Offensively, wide base, medium hand set, high back elbow, multiple toe taps into stride, inside out swing, showed some strength. Mechanical load, some hip incorporation, turned in a strong batting practice session at the end as he adjusted well.
Mack's spin -
Standing 5-7, and hitting only .250 for a small school, isn't going to turn to many heads, no matter how many positions you play.
I currently project Warren as a Day 3 pick.
