Trip Banta (2021 Siganaw, TX) popped up big this fall with a fastball that touches 93 mph and it runs to the arm side and cuts to the glove side making it tough to square up. He combined that with a hard slider that has swing and miss traits. It was a short outing at the WWBA, but plenty loud.

LHP Trip Banta (2021 grad of Lake Country Christian School) commits early this summer to Coach Schlossnagle at TCU. Trip was also a power hitting OF for his summer coach, Robin Thomas on his Ft. Worth Cats 17U White team.

10/27/19 - 5-foot-10, 200-pounds, throws with a long arm path, good natural rhythm in the delivery, there is some effort in there but showed feel for his body. Ran the fastball up to 87 on the day and paired with a small breaking ball with small slider/ cutter action at 79-80 mph as well as a CH with quality arm speed at 81 mph.
Mack's spin -
You know me... I'm not big on pitchers below 6-2.
Past that, the trend has always been that when a player commits early to a specific coach in college, they usually go there. Banta did at TCU.
For these reasons, my guess he will still be drafted on Day 2 if he alerts teams that he will consider being signed... but will go to college instead.

A year of college often is quite helpful
