Mauricio Nunez is a 17-year-old left-handed pitching prospect in the New York Mets organization.

Born: August 14, 2008 (age 17).

Bats/Throws: Left/Left.

Size: 6'0", 160 lbs.

Signed: By the Mets as an international free agent on January 15, 2026, to a minor league contract.

Current Assignment: DSL Mets Orange (Dominican Summer League), assigned on May 29, 2026.

He is a very young, low-level international signee working his way through the Mets' Dominican Summer League affiliate.

Nunez represents one of the Mets' newer international pitching additions aimed at building depth in their lower-level systems.

 

Victor Gallegos/DSL Orange – 2.25-WHIP, 4-IP, 3-K, 3-BB, 1-ER, 0.75-ERA

Victor Gallegos is an 18-year-old right-handed pitcher (R/R) in the New York Mets organization, currently playing in the Dominican Summer League (DSL) for the DSL Mets Orange.

Born: July 14, 2007 (age 18), in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico  

Height/Weight: 6'2" / 185 lbs.

Signed: June 11, 2026, by the Mets as an international free agent; assigned to the DSL Mets Orange on June 13, 2026.

Gallegos, from Sonora, Mexico, developed through the Caudillos Sports Academy (which gave him a scholarship after a national championship in Meoqui, Chihuahua) and later the Academia Prospectos del Sur in Veracruz.

Mets scouts noticed him there, leading to his professional signing. He is a recent addition to the Mets' international development pipeline, typical for young Latin American talent starting in the DSL.

He is a very new, low-level prospect with limited public scouting reports or advanced metrics available so far. As a tall, projectable right-hander just beginning his career, the Mets will focus on development, innings, and refining his stuff in the DSL before potential moves to higher levels (e.g., Florida Complex League or beyond).

Bryce Jenkins is a right-handed relief pitcher in the New York Mets organization (born April 3, 2001, age 25 as of mid-2026).

He stands 5'11" and 175 lbs, bats/throws R/R, and is from Knoxville, TN.

He played at Hardin Valley Academy, spent time at Cleveland State Community College (NJCAA), then transferred to the University of Tennessee.

The Mets drafted him in the 17th round (516th overall) in 2023 and signed him for $180,000.

Jenkins had a strong college showing at Tennessee in 2023 (high strikeout rate in limited relief innings) and impressed briefly in the Cape Cod League.

He made his pro debut in 2023 but required Tommy John surgery shortly after, which wiped out most of 2024 and delayed 2025.

2023 (limited): Rough early results in short stints (high walks).

2025 (rehab/return): Split time in FCL and Single-A St. Lucie; struggled with command (high walks) but showed strikeout ability.

2026 (Brooklyn Cyclones, A+): Strong relief work

He's viewed as a depth relief prospect with upside from his breaking ball.

Pre-TJ, Jenkins used a two-fastball mix (sinker + four-seamer, both ~92 mph average) plus high-spin breaking balls.

Post-surgery (and with a new slider added right before the injury), he has focused on differentiation and velocity gains.
