The Mets can really limbo, man. They can go WAY low.
Their losses mount up like the national debt.
I sometimes wonder, though, if you took the Mets out of Queens and stuck them somewhere else, like Milwaukee, would they have somehow won 10 more games?

The Yankees acquired minor league outfielder Wilberson De Peña and international bonus pool money from the LA Angels in exchange for INF Oswald Peraza.
Oswald’s .242 this year has his career average up to .201, but he does flash nice leather. The Yankees found him to be expendable.

How many Mets minor leaguers are there with offensive stats like that?
That’s a trick question, right?
Answer: Nada.
MINORS MISERY INDICES
Do you ever wonder why it seems like so few Mets prospects are doing anything that catches your attention?
It becomes much clearer when you step back and just look at the teams’ performances in a few basic, key statistical (thru 7/23) categories.
Hitting - Batting Averages
Syracuse .242 (17th out of 20)
Binghamton .209 (last of 12) - 24 points behind the second worst team.
Brooklyn .205 (last of 12) - 13 points behind the second worst team.
St Lucie .237 (8th out of 10) - 2 points above being tied for worst.
FCL Mets .248 (9th out of 15)
Add those up. 58th out of 69, when normal would be 35th of 69.
In other words, organization-wide minors hitting has been pathetic. 58th of 69 has to be the worst of any organization in baseball.
Pitching - ERAs
Syracuse 4.91 (12th out of 20)
Binghamton 4.77 (8th out of 12)
Brooklyn 4.09 (1st out of 12) - partly due to pitcher-friendly home park
- 3.66 ERA in home games. But 4.62 in road games.
St Lucie 4.90 (8th of 10)
FCL Mets 6.24 (10th out of 15)
Pitching ERAs are pretty awful, and even in Brooklyn’s league, their ERA is heavily aided and abetted by one of the most favorable-for-pitchers parks in all of baseball.

All you have to do is glance at one of JOHN FROM ALBANY's top five Mets BA graphs and you will quickly realize the extent of meh in this organization right now
Nationals got a great return on their trade with the Red Sox. Hopefully it works out for us that way

Question for this group: what is the typical percentage of high potential or real prospects per team for a solid minor leaguer system?
Does this percentage change between the upper & lower minors?
Curious if there is some “standard” as there are so many fliers & fillers on all minor league teams.
I don’t know about a standard, but Prospects 1500 lists every team’s top 50 by Tier. Tier 1 is future retreat All Star. Tier 2 is solid starting player who may someday make an All Star team. They are not infallible, and only update twice yearly, but one can readily compare team to team. ANY team needs 1s and 2s for future success. Their February 1’s were McLean and Benge. The Mets got fortunate with Scott, Ewing, and (hopefully) Thornton.
Where are those charts?
I agree. He has held onto Baty like he was gold. SMH, Stearns usually has no problem making a fair deal. Think the pressure is getting to him?
