Karim, Alen, Lowe, Loadenthal... and Jonathan Bender

Karim Garcia:

Obregon 5, Hermosillo 2 - Carlos Valencia homered twice and drove in three runs as the Yaquis snapped a three-game losing streak. Mauricio Lara struck out six over five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, for the win. Former Major Leaguer Karim Garcia homered for the first-place Naranjeros, who had a three-game winning streak halted. - mlb

Luis Alen:

Caribes 8, Lara 3 - Eliezer Alfonzo, Tony Alvarez and Mets prospect Luis Alen drove in two runs apiece as the Caribes extended their winning streak to three games. Former Major Leaguer Jim Brower pitched five shutout innings for the win, while Luis Antonio Jimenez hit a three-run homer for the Cardenales - mlb

Derek Lowe:

The word is that the Braves want to deal Lowe and two teams, the Angels and Mariners, are interested. Let’s see, maybe there’s a three-way deal somewhere here. No, the contract sucks. Let’s move on…

Carl Loadenthal:

The Washington Nationals signed OF Carl Loadenthal to a minor league contract.

Wasn’t Loadenthal a Met? I specifically remember having a hard time learning how to spell his name (some posters here would say I have a hard time spelling my own name…

Jonathan Bender:

The Knicks just signed former lottery pick Jonathan Bender to a one-year vets min. We reported on the Fix recently that Bender had come in for some workouts over the summer and impressed the Knicks staff. He didn't feel he was 100 pct ready yet, but it now. Donnie Walsh drafted Bender with Indiana - The-Knicks-Fix
