Freddy Garcia:
Freddy Garcia, 33, will be a free agent after the 2010 season and said he still has a few bullets in the gun beyond this year. ”I’ve got this shot here in Chicago,” Garcia said. ”I have to go and do what I do, see what happens in the future. I’ve got one year to do it.” Of course, his No. 1 priority is to stay with the Sox. ”It’s baseball,” he said. ”You never know what’s going to happen - http://benmaller.com/mlb
Jonel Pacheco:
The Yuma Scorpions have acquired OF Jonel Pacheco, from the Venezuelan Baseball Federaton, for future considerations.
-Pacheco played okay for the Mets in 2005 (Clones: .274/.344/.413) and 2006 (Hager: .265/.321/.390)... problem was he came out of the internation leagues late in development and was already 23 years old in rookie ball... basically no power... the Mets let him go, which came back to haunt the Savanah Sand Gnats, when he hit .315 for Hickory and made the all-star team...
Joe Torre:
Can it be? Joe Torre returning to New York, this time in his second stint as the Mets’ manager? That was the scuttlebutt around Dodger Stadium this past weekend as Torre’s Dodgers played in the annual Freeway Series against the Angels. Torre managed the Mets from 1977 through 1981. With GM Omar Manaya’s reign almost assuredly coming to an end, a new GM will probably want a new field manager. Who better to restore the Mets franchise than Torre? And what better way is there for Torre to stick it to the Yankees after offering him a pay cut in his last negotiation? Stranger things have happened - maller
