From press release:
Jordany Valdespin dropped a broken-bat single into left field in the bottom of the tenth, plating Josh Satin with the game-winning run as Binghamton roared from three runs back to beat Reading 6-5 in 10 innings Friday night at NYSEG Stadium. Mike Nickeas led all hitters with a 3-for-4 showing with a double and two RBI. The tenth inning got off to an unorthodox start for the B-Mets. Sean Ratliff was ejected after arguing a called third strike with home plate umpire Travis Hatch. Satin followed with a single, however, and with two outs, Nickeas joined him on base after accepting a four-pitch walk. Valdespin then delivered the crippling blow off reliever Jason Anderson, who was charged with a blown save and the loss. Binghamton (57-61) trailed early as the R-Phils built a 4-1 lead against starter Jenrry Mejia. Reading managed three of those runs in an error-marred second inning, which included a pair of errors by the starting right-hander. Ratliff got the B-Mets within two runs of the lead in the fourth with a leadoff homer off starter Mike Cisco. The shot, which was his 15th with Binghamton, left the yard to right. Mejia exited after 5 2/3 innings on the hook. The 20-year-old prospect allowed four runs — three earned — on eight hits, struck out five and walked three in his longest outing of the season. Cisco also left the contest after 5 2/3 innings, but was in line for the win having allowed two runs on six hits. Reading (57-60) added to its lead in the seventh against reliever Eddie Kunz. The hard-throwing righty walked former New York Mets outfielder Timo Perez with one out in the seventh. The 35-year-old then swiped second to reach scoring position. Tagg Bozied chased him home with a single to the gap in right-center, upping the Phillies lead to three, 5-2. The B-Mets charged back in the eighth against Reading’s bullpen. Jose Coronado led off with a bloop double to right. Raul Reyes moved him to third with a groundout to short. Ratliff plated the runner with a sac fly to center. With the bases empty and two outs, the inning seemed all but over. However, reliever Chris Kissock walked Josh Satin and gave up a single to Marshall Hubbard. Anderson spelled the fatigued reliever. To add speed to the bases, Jon Malo entered to run for Hubbard. That move loomed large as Nickeas doubled to the alley in left-center, bringing Satin and the speedy Malo home to tie the game at five. Manuel Alvarez sent the game into extras with two perfect innings of relief, highlighted by four strikeouts. Roy Merritt was the beneficiary of the tenth-inning rally with his fourth win after tossing a scoreless top half of the frame. Binghamton outhit the R-Phils 12-9 and got two-hit games out of Satin and Coronado. Satin has now hit in 15 of his last 16 games.
