Good News On Draft Signing Day

Mike Harvey: Word came down early that the deal was basically done, but they were stil debating some of the money issues. Then, it was reported that Harvey was demanding $4.5mil and would not sign unless the Mets met his demands. In the end, Harvey signed with the Mets for an amount that included a $2.525mil signing bonus.

Greg Peavey: All I had on him in my draft portion was one scout review… 6-14-10 from: - http://www.minorleagueball.com/2010/6/13/1516247/new-york-mets-draft-review - Greg Peavey, RHP, Oregon State University: Doesn't throw as hard as he did in high school, but he has a good slider and an average fastball. Could be a fifth starter or long relief type. Got an email from a schoolmate of his around a month ago, saying that Peavey was definitely returning to college, but since then, three draft experts all said Peavey would sing with the Mets.

Peavey also signed with the Mets. The decision was made about two and a half hours before the deadline. I do not have the amount yet.

Drew Martinez: Lot’s of press came down the pipe on him from summer ball. Was one of the top hitters in the Cape Cod League. Left early and there were two different reports on why. One said he didn’t want to get hurt before signing with the Mets and the other said he was returning to school.

As of 8:51am, I still have no confirmation on the rumors that he did not sign.
