The third game of the five game series between the Kannapolis Intimidators and the Savannah Sand Gnats was played Saturday evening in front of 3,064 fans.
Stellar Gnat pitching along with a barrage of Gnats hits helped the Gnats beat the Intimidators, 8-2.
For the game, Savannah had 14 hits. Second baseman Alonso Harris went 3-for5, with two doubles, 2RBI, a home run(5th of season) and scored three runs.. Catcher Dock Doyle was 3-for4. DH Robbie Shields was2for-5 with a home run(his 2nd of the season). 1bAlex Gregory went 2-for4. ssWilfredo Tovar was 2-for4 with a double, a run scored, and 3 RBI's. CF Matt Den Dekker drove in a run with a double in the 6th inning.
Taylor Whitenton was outstanding in his 5 innings of work, allowed only 1 hit, no runs, walked two and struck out 11 batters to improve his record to (7-6). Gabriel Zavala pitched two shutout innings allowing two hits and and struck out two-his ERA is (0.67). Luis Rojasallowed 2runs on two hits and 1 BB in the 8th inning. Marcos Tabata faced three batters in the 9th and struck out two and the final out was a ground out.
