JUPITER, FL – Darrell Ceciliani drove in three runs and Rainy Lara tossed six strong innings to lead the Binghamton Mets past the Springfield Cardinals, 6-1,Thursday afternoon at the St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training complex.
Ceciliani, a member of the 2013 B-Mets, collected three RBI on a double and a single. The Madras, Oregon native hit .268 and collected a team-high 31 stolen bases in the Southern Tier last year. Jayce Boyd jump started Binghamton’s offense with a two-run double in the first inning. Boyd amassed a .330 batting average and 83 RBI between Savannah (Low-A) and St. Lucie (High-A) in 2013.
On the hill, Lara tamed the Cardinals over frames to earn the victory. The right-hander from Bani, Dominican Republic surrendered just one run on three hits and collected three strikeouts. He went 8-7 with a 2.85 ERA between Savannah and St. Lucie last year.
