Cardinals Defeat B-Mets in Florida, 4-2


JUPITER, FL – The Binghamton Mets fell to the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals), 4-2, in a Minor League spring training game Friday afternoon at the Cardinals complex.

Right-hander Domingo Tapia allowed one run on five hits over four innings on the hill for the B-Mets. The Dominican Republic native struck out three. Tapia went 3-9 with a 4.62 ERA in 22 starts with the St. Lucie Mets (High-A) last year.

Jairo Perez, signed as a Minor League free agent this off season after spending two years in the American Association (Independent), drove in two runs. The infielder was originally a Minnesota Twins farmhand from 2007 to 2012.

The B-Mets return to Jupiter on Saturday to take on the Jacksonville Suns (Miami Marlins) at 1:00 PM.

The Binghamton Mets spring training schedule consists of twelve games stretching from March 14 to March 28. Players that see action in these spring games are not guaranteed to be on the Binghamton Mets Opening Day roster on April 3.
