2021 MLB Draft - Mets Pick # 16.472 - RHP - Trey McLoughlin - UPDATED - New Info + Mack's spin

Trey McLoughlin

Senior        6-2        210        Fairfield

That's a 6-1 record over two seasons.

I have no idea why you go from a Friday night starter to only 5 starts. Had to be an injury here.

My guess is he heads to either the FCL or St. Lucie pen.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound McLoughlin, the Stag’s No. 1 starter, was coming off an All-Star team making summer of playing ball with the Mystic Schooners in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).

McLoughlin compiled a 4-1 record with a 2.75 ERA during the regular season for Mystic and was selected to start the All-Star Game for the Southern Division. He would finish in the top-five in the league in both ERA (2.75) and strikeouts (48).

Then COVID-19 threw a monkey wrench into the process, Fairfield’s 2020 season was cut short, and MLB chose to draft only 5 rounds of players.

2021 stat line - 5-G, 5-starts, 2-0, 4.94, 23.2-IP, 32-K, 4-BB

2020: Made three starts with an 0-2 record and a 4.60 ERA…Did not allow a hit while striking out eight against Stetson (3/7)…Hurled 5.1 scoreless frames in his season debut against UNC Greensboro (2/22).

Injuries have been his problem. Needs to add a few mph, but he looks to have the frame and mechanics to do so. Good command of his pitches.
