There is a new Twitter rumor being floated yesterday that the Mets are working on a 2-year, $20mil ($10mil per season) deal, with an opt out after one, with Michael Conforto.
Thoughts?

So who sits if Conforto is signed? Do we sit the more highly paid Mark Canha who hits as anemically as Michael Conforto? I'd rather see them sign a solid relief pitcher than even the purported bargain-priced Conforto as he doesn't really fit their primary need.
Sign pitching, if anything.
Oddly, though, after 7 spring games, Mets scoring little, hitting 25th out of 30, and lead in ERA by a long shot (1.62?).
A lot of that 25th is due to poor hitting kids.

Seeing just a little of Marte today, he is > Conforto.
I feel that, if he is signing a one year deal to rebuild his value, the best place may actually be in Cincinnati.
They have space in their outfield, and have payroll space, if they are willing to spend at all. Conforto, in Great American Ballpark could easily put up 30 homers. The ball sails out to right in that park.

Many, including me, thought that the Mets should give Conforto the QO last year. He is a very solid right fielder, good clubhouse guy, and a fan favorite. Although he's a streaky hitter, he would be worth a $10M/yr shot with new batting coach Eric Chavez there to help him with his approach at the plate. Canha could be traded for Josh Hader and you solve a couple of problems.
Paul, I was shocked when I saw Conforto has just a .227/.315/.380 lifetime vs. lefties.
I'd consider him as a Mets platoon player against righties if we dump Cano. Conforto is a solid .502 slug lifetime vs. righties.
Then he can go to the free agent market again in 2023.
Simply a NO lets move on
The Mets might be trying to figure out if Cano is washed up - if so, they can't play him. Then, do a buy out - tell Robby, we'll give you 50% or 75% and you won't have to embarrass yourself. Then, perhaps, sign Conforto cheap for a year - he hits righties well - but right now, there are no spare ABs for Conforto with Cano around.
I like Paul's idea. Canha and more for Harder, then sign Conforto
I thought there was a rule that you can't trade a free agent you just signed until after June 15th.
If so, the Mets can't trade Canha right away.
Conforto needs a one-year deal somewhere where he can play regularly and build his value. That doesn't come from being a platoon/bench player.

There are a lot of good fits for him, but the QO is screwing him up. Somebody mentioned Cincy..I think the White Sox are looking for a lefty bat..the Jays....
I mentioned Cincy, but that's in a perfect world. The QO may take them out of play, as may the salary (as they are in cost-cutting mode). The park is perfect for him to re-build his value, though.
Yeah,both the QO and the salary are going to block a signing with Cincinnati..I actually thought Cleveland might be a fit as they don't seem to be in complete teardown mode, they have the pitching, but need offense
