So, the Division right now projects to be a dead heat between the Mets and Braves for the 2022 crown - both looking like 92 wins - the Braves have made moves, the Mets have made moves, and Freddie has thankfully (until October, at least) headed 2,500 miles west to LAD.
If the Mets were Baltimore, we might see all the Mets' offensive kids brought up this year. Nothing to lose.
Given the massive logjam that currently exists in the currently configured Mets' infield, outfield, and catcher, and the fact that a struggling kid might lose you a few games (and perhaps the division, as every game counts), who amongst Vientos, Baty, Cortes, Alvarez, Mauricio, and Mauricio do you expect to debut as a Met in 2022? If any?
With JT Ginn and Adam Oller gone, and Matt Allan a rehab fella in 2022, which Mets' pitcher prospects might get called up for the first time this year? Jose Butto, perhaps? Eric Orze? (Interestingly, it appears that AAA lefty Josh Walker was scheduled to start the 6:05 spring training game on Saturday evening, so as I write this, hopefully he will do well).
If you have an opinion, tell us who gets that magic phone call to come to Queens, and when, in 2022.

Some impressive pitching outings yesterday - Josh Walker, THREE SCORELESS. Orze one scoreless with a hit and a K. Holderman went an inning, fanned 2, allowed an unearned run (apparently resulting from his errant pick off throw).
Mangum 1 for 3, 2 Ks, a CS, and (WOW) 2 outfield assists.
Otherwise, Khalil Lee was o for 1 with a walk and a K, Baty and Mauricio fanned, Cortes GIDP, and Vientos popped out in their single ABs.
Looks to me that this year is development year for our prospects
I can only really see a Vientos or K. Lee get a shot only if they are tearing up the minors and we have injuries…. Really there may not be room even if they are ready.
The bullpen is the only place for a prospect to have a shot
On another note
Where has Mack been? I have not seen any draft prospects news or any of his comments to writings?
Mack is in semi-retirement from his site. We're continuing to post regularly in the hopes that readers appreciate the efforts.
Look you can't help but be excited by this year as we have an involved owner who really wants to win and the money to do it and finally FO stability. Add to that a pretty dam good team and no CBA nonsense coming any time soon so I'm ready for a great season AND playoffs at the very least....what's not to love LGM's!
Eddie, Mack started a spin-off site posting about prospects only. He posts a few articles everyday.
Onto the topic, it was refreshing and gutsy of the Yankees to stick by their top prospect, SS Anthony Volpe, and not sign Correa, Story, or any other top SS available - and there were plenty. I would like to see a path for a young player, not necessarily had him the gig.
Like others, I’m expect Lee or Plummer to be available for promotion or make the team out of camp. The Mets don’t need a fourth outfielder, no matter what the newspapers are trying to sell. Can’t understand why they didn’t sign Tyler Anderson or Smyly, or Boyd, or even Danny Duffy. All these guys signed these past few days and other than Duffy, all are healthy. There is no such thing as guaranteed success, so get a decent quality arm and let’s see what happens. No one can predict Aaron Loop to repeat last year…
Eddie, there is a link to Mack's draft site at the top under the "More Macks Sites" pull down tab.
The kids are now much more in Yankee team mode during the Jeter years. We are pretty stocked, and the kids will ripen longer in the minors - which ain't bad. Vientos and Baty won't get rushed. The only one I can see on a true fast track is Alvarez, if he does really well, because the catcher slot on the Mets was really poor hitting in 2021.
I appreciate them, Reese. Keep 'em coming. Ditto for Tom and all the other writers here.
Oh Reese totally love what you and Tom have done all along…
Just didn’t know Mack was no longer posting
Peterson got cuffed around today. But that fella Megill, there are teams that would have him as their # 1 starter. Three scoreless for the towering righty today.
