The Brooklyn Cyclones (5-10) attempt to even their series against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (7-8) — the High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies — on Wednesday morning at 11:05 a.m. from ShoreTown Ballpark.

 

RHP Cameron Foster (0-2, 8.00) is expected to make his second professional start for Brooklyn against Jersey Shore’s LHP Jordan Fowler (1-0, 3.65).

LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones dropped the opening game of the series to the BlueClaws on Tuesday night, 7-4...Down 3-0, RF Stanley Consuegra clubbed a game-tying 3-run home run to left in the 3rd...2B Justin Guerrera put the ‘Clones ahead, 4-3, with a sacrifice fly in the 6th...BlueClaws went in front for good on a DH Nick Ward walk and 2B Wilfredo Flores single...C Kevin Parada picked up 2 hits and caught 3 would-be base stealers for Brooklyn...RHP Blade Tidwell struck out 6 over 5.0 innings...RHP Chase Antle earned the win for Jersey Shore and RHP Matt Russell collected his first save...RHP Jace Beck was saddled with the loss.

SUPER STANLEY: OF Stanley Consuegra blasted his 4th home run of the year on Tuesday night...Consuegra enters Wednesday’s match on a 10-game on-base streak dated back to April 12...Since then, the right-handed swinger is slashing .333/.409/.769 with a stellar 1.178 OPS...Consuegra has 8 extra-base hits, 4 home runs, and 13 RBI in that span...He is tied for 2nd in the league in extra-base hits (9) and homers (3), 6th in total bases (33), and tied for 6th in RBI (13).

WELCOME BACK, WILLIAM: INF William Lugo made his season debut on Tuesday night at Jersey Shore...The 21-year-old went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a stolen base...Lugo joined the Cyclones from Single-A St. Lucie on April 8 last year and slashed .267/.347/.484 with a .795 OPS in 28 regular season games...He added 4 home runs and 18 RBI...The Baní, D.R. native added another solo home run in the postseason...Lugo is ranked as the Mets’ No. 27 prospect by Baseball America and No. 26 by MLB Pipeline...He joined the squad from extended spring training on Monday.

PARADA-ISE:  C Kevin Parada set a career-high by nabbing 3 potential base stealers on Tuesday night at Jersey Shore...The 2022 first-round pick also collected a pair of base hits...Over his last 3 games, Parada is 4-for-13 (.308) at the plate with a run scored, a double, and a walk, in addition to throwing out 4-of-8 (.500) baserunners on steal attempts.

THUNDERBOLT: The Cyclones have been active on the base paths to start the 2023 season...Coming to Tuesday, Brooklyn possesses 2 of the South Atlantic League leaders in stolen bags...OF Omar De Los Santos is 2nd in the circuit with 9 and IF/OF Jaylen Palmer is currently tied for 3rd with 8...More importantly, both are a combined 17-for-17 on attempts...While the ‘Clones are only 10th in the league with 27 team stolen bases, the squad is 2nd in success rate (.900)...Only Hudson Valley (.936) has been more successful.

RAMÍ RAKES: OF Alex Ramírez extended his team season-long hitting streak to 10 on Tuesday...The stretch is also tied for the longest active streak in the SAL with Hudson Valley’s Antonio Gómez...The 20-year-old is 14-for-his-last-42 (.333) with 6 runs scored, 2 doubles, a home run, 9 RBI, 3 walks, and 2 stolen bases...Since the start of last season, Ramírez leads all Mets’ minor leaguers in batting average (.281) and is tied with teammate OF Stanley Consuegra for the lead in triples (7)...He is also tied with former Cyclone INF Ronny Mauricio for the most doubles (33)...Ramírez is 2nd in on-base percentage (.343), hits (157), and OPS (.772), 3rd in slugging (.429) and total bases (240), and tied for 3rd in extra-base hits (52).

GO DJ: LHP Daniel Juárez has been as dominant as can be out of the bullpen for the Cyclones in 2023...In his first 5 outings of the campaign, the southpaw holds a 1-0 record with 1 save...He has not permitted a run on 3 hits and a walk, striking out 11...In 10 regular season appearances with the ‘Clones dating back to last season, Juárez has yielded only 1 unearned run in 10.1 innings...The 22-year-old has not surrendered an earned run in 18 straight appearances dating back to last year...Juárez last allowed earned runs on June 22, 2022, with Single-A St. Lucie at Palm Beach...Since then, he is 3-0 with 8 hits allowed, 10 walks, and 26 strikeouts in 20.2 innings.

BER-BEST-I: INF César Berbesi has bounced back from an injury-plagued 2022 in style...The 23-year-old has reached base in each of his first 8 games in 2023...Berbesi is 10-for-26 (.385) at the plate with 10 runs scored, a double, a triple, and 4 RBI...If he had enough plate appearances to qualify, Berbesi would enter Wednesday’s game 2nd in the SAL in on-base percentage (.568) and batting average (.385)...He would also be 7th in OPS (1.068)...Berbesi has walked 76 times compared to only 84 strikeouts in 104 career games.
