PIITB By JD- Weekly Recap

1 vs. Padres. 3-game sweep of the Athletics. Took game one from the Dodgers. 5-0

The Mets have won 5 straight dating back to last Wednesday.

Series finale vs Padres

Nimmo, Pete, and Pham all had big days in the 5-2 victory over the Padres. Lindor added a home run of his own securing the Mets victory, Megill had a solid outing going 5 innings and only allowing 2 runs. He did walk 3 batters but faired well overall. The pen was lock-down as usual this season.

Athletics (3-0)

The Mets took care of business last week sweeping the Athletics. The Athletics pitching staff gave up 17 walks in the series' first game and the Mets scored 17. Senga had poor control in his start, walking 4 and giving up 4 runs over 4.2 innings. The Mets won 17-6. Game 2 and 3 were one run games. Carascco went 5 innings giving up 2 runs and still looked shaky. He was just put on the IL ( I think it is a phantom IL to figure out what to do with him once Verlander comes back). The Mets stole the series finale with Butto going 5 innings and allowing only 1 run. He showed a ton of improvement compared to last year.

Dodgers (1-0 so far)

The Mets had their best game of the season last night. Even Steven Cohen agreed via Twitter. The Mets and Dodgers went back and forth all night. Baty had a clutch rbi single. Nimmo, Pete, and Jeff each had 3 hits. This was an encouraging game offensively. Peterson kept the Mets in the game but allowed 6 runs over 6 innings. The rest of the pen was great as the Mets look to take game 2 tonight.

Good recap

Glad you forgot this team sort of played last night.

Escobar was hitless. Perhaps Vientos would not have been. Braves are 14-4, and Billy’s dilly dallying may be putting the Mets in a tough hole.

Kershaw is a beast and we move on. Eppy moved quickly on Baty and good for him Alvy was a forced move but lets now play him and as far the Bravos w/o our staff getting healthy were gonna be fighting for 2nd place AND Megil and DP have to man up. Big boy pants time.

Watch out for the Marlins

If this Mets manager isn't going to...

play the kids the team has called up and start them so that they can really dig-in here early on in the season. Then either send the young kid players back down to Syracuse so that they don't waste more time with this insecure manager who prefers losing by playing veteran players hitting .155 BA.

Some managers and coaches in football too (I will not name but could) don't see the forest through the trees. It isn't about having a pretty regular season record, gloating, and then coming back again next season to do the same exact thing.

But rather, it is about getting to the Playoffs with the very best talented players in your organization.

And yes, sometimes they are young players too.

Come on, Tom. Our rotation has been hurt by injuries, and only 3 players in our line-up are hitting over .250.
And we just ended a 5-game winning streak.
Vientos is still K'ing once per 3 AB and has no position. Who would he replace if he were promoted?
How is this on Billy?

The only chance Vientos has is either a Baty injury or giving up on Vogey

Goodbye Vogie.

The. Overreaction around here is funny. Marlins reach 500 and they’re good. Alvarez has a bad week and he’s being rushed. Braves get red hot and the Mets will never catch them. Hey it’s not even 20 games.
