1. NY Mets roster: Tim Locastro will not be part of the roster by May 1

Tim Locastro was one of the last players to make the New York Mets roster, so it would stand to reason that he’ll be one of the first to go. Locastro gives the Mets a right-handed hitting option opposite the left-handed hitting Brandon Nimmo, but that’s about it.

Locastro has carved out a nice major league career, and his speed combined his an above-average glove makes him a fine addition as the 26th man on a team. But with the talented pair of Mark Vientos and Brett Baty down on the farm, one has to think that it’s only a matter of time before Locastro is sent on his way.

Tim Locastro is out of minor league options, so the New York Mets would have to designate the 30-year-old for assignment in order to remove him from the roster. Locastro is filling a similar role to what Travis Jankowski provided in 2022, but it’s time to let the young players make their home in the Big Apple.

Tom I think it was a mistake when Tidwell was put on Binghampton. If you look now he is not there. Joander Suarez has been transferred there from Brooklyn.

Boy Mack, that's a very quick assessment.

Tim's up 4 times, been on-base 3 times (all HBP). Kind of reminiscent to a Missouri born second baseman once here by the name of Ronald Kenneth Hunt #33. Tim has just one official at bat to show for 2023. Personally, I'd like to see a few more at bats first. He had decent ST stats, and is exceedingly fleet footed.

What really surprised me was though was 3B Brett Baty being sent down. Eduardo Escobar has not done much again at the plate this spring, although very early on in the season to assess also.

To me, the bigger issue here may be that none of the really talented kids (like Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, or Ronny Mauricio all of which had a very impressive ST) even made the 2023 Opening Day NY Mets roster. Trust me here, all three will definitely be a huge part of this franchise's future very soon. Let them get started now I say, so that come second half 2023 all three are clicking 100% on all MLB cylinders for the stretch run.

Locastro by May 1? I personally find Rising Apple annoying, as there is always a headline that says, “3 players who will…l then you open the article and read on a nothing burger. I don’t like trick headlines. Just tell me who in the headline, and I’ll decide if I want to open it or not.

If Locastro has a .400 OBP, he will be here for a good while.
