Tom Brennan - A Look at That New RF fence

For purposes of the this article, left field is everything left of dead center.  Right field is everything right of dead center.

I like the new, slightly shorter fence in right. But why, with that short fence, has Jeff McNeil only hit one Citi HR in over 100 plate appearances? Pete has 9 Citi HRs but is hitting .196 at home. Alvarez? Just 2 of his 11 HRs at Citi. Lindor? Only 4 of his 11 HRs at home.

They forgot to take down the impenetrable force field at the outfield fence,

Nido? He had no HRs at Citi, but also none on the road. His one RBI for 2023 was at home.

On another topic, the new scoreboard is incredible, and the scheduling of info on it is exemplary.  I hearkened back 100 years to when Babe Ruth was king in 1923.  No lights for night games.  Mechanical scoreboard.  The only noise would have been fan noise and background traffic.

I remarked to someone, "imagine if the Babe walked out onto the field and saw all the electronic wizardry at the game?"

If you have been there this year, at the facing of each deck if a continuous widescreen TV that was artfully utilized throughout the game.  Lots and lots of planning had to go into making it a dynamic, and unobtrusively omnipresent experience.

So you get a good show even if the game itself is not so good. Which has been the case too many times this year.
