REED GARRETT IS TOUGH AS NAILS

Mack –

Reed Garrett pitched only 0.2-innings, but he gets back-to-back strikeouts to get out of the 6th.

Both the splitter and the sweeper had a 100% whiff% (what?).

Fastest pitch was the cutter that averaged 92.2.

You couldn’t ask for more here to help Megill end the inning and preserve the shutout.

Let me tell you... go get me one more productive lefty and all this pen should be playing come all-star day.

Mack,
The Atlantic ran an article yesterday regarding 12 top Mets prospects. In the review of Matt Allen was a link to an article by Tim Britton wrote July 3, 2019 regarding the drafting of Allen that was rather informative. If you get an opportunity to read that article, I would be interested in your thoughts.

I did and I am reprinting three of them in my next four Observations posts

I have been a Danny Young fan since last year (I actually appreciated what both Youngs (Danny and Alex) did last year. Danny needs to start throwing strikes and trusting his stuff again. Until then he will get less and less opportunities. He is certainly looking like the first man out when Blackburn comes back.

Or when Nunez is ready.

Believe me

As soon as the Mets start believing in an AAA LHRP, he’s a gonner

Soon I hear

If Danny Young can’t pitch nearly as well as the other guys in the bullpen, he will be gone, whether lefty or not

He looks healthy. But why is he rehabbing in the Frozen North instead of Lucie? That wirries me.

Too much pitching is a nice problem to have. When Nunez, Blackburn, Manaea and Montas are ready, the roster will get VERRRY crowded.
