MACK - POSITION ANALYSIS - SP (#3 of 5)

Good morning.

Here’s #3 of 5 in a series of prospect starters in the Mets chain:

Noah Hall – another 2022 pitching draft gem (we’ll try not to hold it against him that he was a Gamecock). RHP. Pitched all of 2025 for A+ Brooklyn: 25-G, 21-ST, 5-7, 2.72, 1.26, 112.2-IP, 115-K, 63-BB. Needs to work on his control. There’s nothing left for him to do at Coney, but the question is xan he squeeze into an already busy projected spring Rumble Ponies rotation.

Joel Diaz – turns 22 during pitchers/catchers. RH starter (or is he?). Like Hall, pitched all of 2025 for A+ Brooklyn: 18-ST, 7-RP, 5-5, 3.80, 1.23, 106.2-IP, 98-K, 25-BB, 106-H. Praised for his raw talent, but needs more time to develop. Projected for AA-Binghamton, but I would have him live in the lab for the remainder of the off-season and then go back to Brooklyn and attempt to put what he learned into game results.

Brandan Girton – 24/yrs. old. Okie. 2025 – A+/AA: 25-G, 21-ST, 3-4, 3.10, 1.16, 87-IP, 101-K, 44-BB. Had four start bitter cup of coffee for the Rumble Ponies (4.45) and will return there and work on his BB/9. Potentially, a back-end reliever.

Irv Cota – turns 22 on Valentine’s Day. Product of Mexico. Love the 6-5, 175. Pitched 2025 for A/A+/AA: 12-ST, 13-RP, 7-6, 4.20, 1.18, 98.2-IP, 85-K, 23-BB, a whopping 94-H. Projected for spring Rumble Pones rotation, but I don’t know if this should be his role going forward. In fact, I don’t know what he should do. Needs lots of work.

Franklin Gomez – turns 21 in July. Product of Venezuela, Boy, I loved this guy last season for Lucy: 7-ST, 7-RP, 3-1, 1.85, 1.09, 48.2-IP, 42-L, 23-BB. But, hid promotion to Brooklyn left little to write home about: 6-ST, 0-2, 4.70, 1.82, 23-IP, 26-K, 11-BB, 31-H. I have him going back here as a starter and, hopefully, he can bring some of that Lucy-magic with him.

Morning, MACK.

If their arms don’t fall off, all will be MLB pitchers at some point in the future. Up to them how much.

With all these starting pitchers in the pipeline some need to get moved to relief and moved quicker or we will loose some to the rule 5 draft.
