Position Analysis – SP
Here comes your next five…
David
Hurtado -
6-1 165
LHSP IFA signed 1-15-2023 Cuban
2025:
FCL/St. Lucie: 5-2, 1.75, 1.04 53.2-IP,
52-K, 16-BB
24.2% K-rate 7.5% BB-rate
Very
impressive season last year. I can’t wait to see what he does in Brooklyn in
2026.
Jose
Chirinos –
6-3 170
RHSP Venezuelan
2025: 56-1-IP, 3.20, 1.24, 4.8-BB/9, 8.2-K/0
Chirinos
didn’t burn up the books last year, but he also didn’t stink up the joint. He’s
earned a promotion to A+ Brooklyn in the spring.
Calvin
Zeigler –
6-0 205
23/yrs old
Rd.
2 2021 Draft – TNXL Academy (FL)
Highly
regarded prospect… FB ticks to 98. Huge swing-and-miss 12-6 curve.
2023
– surgery for bone spurs in pitching elbow
While
rehabbing, tore his quad
2024
– TJS – torn ulnar collateral ligament (it hurts writing this condition, no
less having it) 2-G, 0-0, 6-IP, 13-K,
0.3
2025
– crickets
Jeez,
this guy could pitch, but he just can’t stay healthy. He and Matt Allan oughta
get a room. I have no idea what his status is. The Mets brass that know say
nothing. For the hell of it, I’m adding the aging ex-prosect to Brooklyn.
Truman
Pauley –
RHP 6-2
200 turns 22 next month
12th
round 2025, Harvard University
Pitched
in only three games last season, all starts:
0-0.
2.08, 0.92, 4.1-IP,
3-K, 4-BB
Not
the worst start, but he’ll stay in Florida when others go north.
Ethan
Lanthier –
RHP 6-5
230 12th rd, 2024, University
of Kansas
Reliever
that was converted to a starter for the St. Lucy Jucies:
5-ST, 0-2, 4.61, 1.53,
13.2-IP, 13-K, 10-BB
Lots
of BLUE in that stat
line and that’s not a good thing.
He
will go back to Lucy to give it the college try.

How hard does Hurtado throw? Maybe he can be the next Jose Quintana. I'd take that.
Truman Pauley - when he starts for the Mets in a few seasons, his motto will be THE BUCK STOPS HERE. If Mendoza is still manager, though, the buck will stop for 5 innings max.
Ziegler? Stearns runs a tight-lipped ship. Maybe he comes back pitching like a beast - not too late - still quite young. His last injury TJS had nothing in common with his first injury.
Speaking of tight-lipped, I wonder if Bryce MDO will 1) be in camp, and 20 back to throwing 101.
HAPPY New Years! I hear Luis Castillo will preside over the midnight ball drop.
HOW BAD CAN THE 2026 SEASON BE - THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN IS THE METS MISS THE PLAYOFFS AGAIN!
Hurtado mid 90s
Target Pauley for
long relief
Take away the ball and glove from Ziegler and hand him a driver. The world needs another golfer with his last name
MDO booking hotel room near hospital for next TJS
The Castillo line may be your best ever
Strange. No one did a NY Revolutions post this year
Happy New Year Tom
Yes that Castillo
Line was a good one
*resolutions
That Luis Castillo dropped fly was a season smasher. Almost as bad as gets by Buckner was for the Red Sox. The Yankees left the Mets were dead that year after Luis couldn’t catch the pop fly.
The only play as bad was when the KC runner in 2015’s WS broke for home on the infield play and stunned Lebowski Duda, who threw it a mile from home plate, give or take a few feet. A series (and stomach) turner.
I wonder how Hurtado got out of Cuba. Born in Havana. Just 20 years old, he could vault up the Mets’ prospect ranks in 2026.
What’s taking Ziegler so long. He had his TJS before Raley, yet he has still not pitched an inning
Speaking of Calvin Ziegler, a motivational speaker I remember, the now deceased Zig Ziglar, said this:
You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.
Amen to that.
Happy New Year to all and knowing this year we will be better prepared to not make the Playoffs than we were last year and have our team do what we often talk about but never really see and thats rip off the bandaid and really ....can I say it...rebuild. Their gonna let the kids play hooray and DS has really put his ass on the line and I'm with you David so Lets Go Mets and let the chips fall where they may it should be one hell of a ride!
Fled with family
I think he has had THREE
Knew Zig well
